“Need” is out today — I kind of always imagined changing that title, it was supposed to be a placeholder. But that one word says a lot about what the song is about — “having it all” and still knowing deep down you’re not doing what you need to do. Finding the balance between desire and purpose. Trusting the process, the absurdity of faith in the face of logic. This one’s for the 30-somethings. #bostonmusicscene #indierockband #folkrock #acousticrock #newenglandmusic by @untidyband

Matty and Ryan recorded the vocals to Evensong together around one mic. First time we’ve ever done it that way. Not the most modern technique, but hopefully we captured some of that old-school, Simon and Garfunkel magic. #homerecordingstudio #diymusic #indiefolk #simonandgarfunkel by @untidyband

This was a special song to write and record. Lyrics & music came together quickly last spring, and I knew right away the song needed to have a Simon&Garfunkel feel. Evensong is a song about having wandered a little too far, but ultimately setting yourself on a better course. “I flew so far away till I turned home.” With allusions to Neil Sedaka, Billy Strings, JFK, and Macbeth. It had been 12 years since the three of us played live together, and living so far apart we only got a quick rundown before the show. Does that count for a good #netflixdocumentary ??
