THE DISTRICT’S ANNOUNCEMENT DOES NOT CHANGE OUR DEMANDS. On Friday, October 30, @southcolonieschools South Colonie announced a partnership with The McLean Collective, restorative circles, student forums, and other efforts to address racism and improve school culture. Taking steps is good. It is also not enough. It should not have taken a racist video going viral nationally and students and community members demanding accountability for the district to reach outside for support. These concerns existed long before the video. Healing without institutional and systemic change is like pulling a nine-inch knife out three inches. The knife is still there. The harm is still there. Restorative circles and conversations can be valuable, but they cannot replace leadership accountability, policy reform, and meaningful structural change. Our demands have not changed. The community petition was introduced and signatures began being collected at our October 24 Colonie Community Meeting. We are sharing it again because the need for change remains. Swipe through to read our demands. Read the petition. Add your name. Share it with others. Students deserve more than acknowledgment. They deserve action. Black students deserve more than promises of protection. They deserve to be protected. The demands stand. The work continues. It’s not one of us. It’s All Of Us. https://bit.ly/PetitionForAntiRacismInColonie  #AllOfUsAgainst518Racism #Colonie #518Community #BlackStudentsMatter #AllOfUs by @untitledandfree

Yesterday, we came together. And this is only the beginning. ✊🏾 On Saturday, October 24, 50–60 community members gathered for the Colonie Community Meeting to make space for honest conversation, stand in solidarity with past and current students, and demand accountability and change in the face of racism. One of the most powerful reminders of the day? Students showed adults what unity looks like. Young people from different school districts stood together across school and community lines, demonstrating the solidarity we need to build and sustain. Racism is not isolated to one school, one district, or one town. It exists at interpersonal, institutional, and systemic levels throughout the 518. Addressing it requires all of us to stay engaged, get organized, and work together. And we’re keeping the momentum going! 📣 Join our new All Of Us Against 518 Racism @allofusagainst518racism community on Facebook and follow us on TikTok! These platforms will help us stay connected, share resources, continue the conversation, and organize for meaningful change across the Greater Capital Region. This is bigger than one video. Bigger than one meeting. And bigger than one town. We have work to do, and we have work to do together. Special “Thank you” to Batman, Kizzy and Allie B’s in Albany as well as Northside Pizza in Troy and the individual community members who brought food and drinks!! It’s not one of us. It’s All Of Us. #AllOfUsAgainst518Racism #Accountability #EndRacism #StudentVoices #AllOfUs by @untitledandfree

STOP LETTING THEM CHANGE THE SUBJECT. ✊🏾 When students stand up against racism, the response should be to address the racism, not weaponize the death of another Black child to discredit their advocacy. We do not have to choose between fighting racism and fighting gun violence. We can, and must, do both. This is whataboutism. It is a distraction and we need to recognize it, name it, and refuse to let it derail the conversation. We must KEEP SPEAKING OUT. We must COME TOGETHER. We must GET ORGANIZED. Because the opposition is counting on our exhaustion, our division, our frustration, and our inability to sustain collective action. We cannot afford to let that happen. 📢 Here’s the call to action: ✊🏾 Keep speaking out against racism—in the comments, in our communities, at school board meetings, and wherever decisions affecting our children are being made. ✊🏾 Stand with the students. Let them lead, and make sure they know they are not standing alone. ✊🏾 Connect with others who are committed to this work. Bring people together. Share information. Make a plan. ✊🏾 Get organized. Turn outrage into sustained action, solidarity into strategy, and conversations into collective power. ✊🏾 Demand transparency, accountability, and meaningful action, not just statements made to quiet public criticism. We cannot wait until the next racist incident goes viral to figure out how we will respond. Black children deserve to grow up free from racism AND gun violence. Our advocacy for one does not cancel out our responsibility to address the other. Black lives are not a competition. Our suffering is not a debate tactic. And we will not be silent to make anybody else comfortable. If you believe in this work, don’t just watch, like, or share this video. Speak up. Reach out. Connect with others. Help build the collective power necessary to make change. In peace and protest. ✊🏾 #EndRacism #StandWithStudents #CollectiveAction #BlackLivesMatter #AllOfUs by @untitledandfree

LET THE STUDENTS LEAD. SHOW UP IN SUPPORT. ✊🏾 Students at Colonie Central High School are continuing to speak out against racism, demanding accountability and a school environment where every student is safe, respected, and valued. 📍 Monday, October 19 | 2:00 PM
Colonie Central High School
1 Raider Blvd, Albany, NY 12205 Students have raised important concerns about racism, accountability, and their own experiences within the district. They deserve to be heard. They deserve to be taken seriously. And they deserve to know that their community stands with them. Let the students lead. Let them speak. Let us show up in support and solidarity. Our children should never have to stand alone when demanding truth, equity, and accountability. #LetStudentsLead #StandAgainstRacism #StudentVoicesMatter #Accountability #AllOfUs by @untitledandfree
TRUTH. TRANSPARENCY. ACCOUNTABILITY. JUSTICE. ✊🏾 We cannot right wrongs by pretending they do not exist. We cannot achieve justice by concealing the truth, protecting those who cause harm, or silencing those who speak out. And we cannot build trust without transparency and accountability. Truth is not always comfortable. Transparency is not always convenient. Accountability is not always easy. But all are necessary if we are serious about justice. Accountability is not about protecting reputations. It is about addressing harm, accepting responsibility, and doing the work necessary to make things right. Justice demands more than words. It demands action. It demands honesty about where we have been, where we are, and what must change. It demands that we turn the light toward the truth. As Ida B. Wells demonstrated throughout her life, truth-telling is an act of courage. It is also an act of resistance. We cannot change what we refuse to confront. We cannot repair what we refuse to acknowledge. And we cannot achieve justice without truth. Turn on the light. Tell the truth. Demand accountability. Do the work. Because justice cannot thrive in the dark. #Truth #Transparency #Accountability #Justice #AllOfUs by @untitledandfree
