People seemed to enjoy the Angel Eyes clip, so here’s the other cover Buchteln Trio did on Friday at Untwelving: the Mexican folk song La Cucaracha (the cockroach)! 🇲🇽🪳

In our previous gig last October we didn’t prepare an encore, so we were caught totally off guard when the audience asked for one. Diego joked that we should play La Cucaracha. Instead we ended up playing a blues. But I kept Diego’s suggestion in mind! When preparing for our Untwelving gig I wrote this very silly microtonal arrangement of it, which turned out to be a great way to help me get my head around 31edo harmony, in particular the neutral triads. I also couldn’t resist adding a cheesy key change up one 31edo step (39 cents).
