What a team!

Every single lifter gave everything on the platform, and we couldn’t be prouder of the team. From first time BUCS competitors to experienced lifters, everyone played their part in another huge year for the club💚

BUCS 2025 CHAMPIONS🔰

Overall Team🥇 / Women’s Team🥇 / Men’s Team🥇

This year has been huge for the club. We took 28 athletes to BUCS, more than double our team from last year, and came away with 1🥇, 4🥈, and 2🥉, plus 5 athletes qualifying for the University World Championships in Istanbul this July. This was our best ever BUCs performance yet, where both our Men’s and Women’s teams secured🥇, as well as @danielrajis & @lauraholland.pl securing BUCs records in the squat and the bench.

A huge congratulations to everyone who competed, and a big thanks to @440coaching for coaching us this year, as well as @jameswestpl and his committee for making everything possible. Additionally a massive thank you to our dedicated handlers @maxpearsonpowerlifting @k_amron.21 @lauraholland.pl @jameswestpl @milez.mz @rossco.pl for handling our lifters across the event.

We’re excited to see the club continue to grow in the 2025/26 academic year. If you’re joining the University of Nottingham in September or returning next year, don’t hesitate to DM us with any questions about joining the club🔰

Introducing our Treasurer for this year we have Malachy Hanley 🔰

Malachy joined this year as a fresher 🥀💔, competing earlier this year at Lincoln Lifts, hitting his BUCs QT. He later competed at BUCs, putting up a total of 592.5KG

Malachy will be responsible for managing all of our Finances this year, look out for him in strong. Just look out. by @uonpl

Introducing our Kit Secretary for this year we have Ronak Tyagi 🔰

Ronak joined the club this year as a fresher, he made his powerlifting debut at MUCS putting up a solid total of 570KG. He then later competing at SSG, adding 40KG to his total to put up 610KG, narrowly missing out on BUCs QT. Based this this we know that Ronak definitely has a lot potential coming up and we can be absolutely certain that he will obtain that BUCs QT next year.

Ronak will be responsible for organising our Kit, which will be available for purchase on our SU page. by @uonpl

Introducing our Welfare Officer for this year we have Esme Piccolo 🔰

Esme joined the club this year as a fresher, making her powerlifting debut at MUCs and hitting BUCs QT for the u69s. She later competed at BUCs putting up a solid total of 370KG, putting her in 7th place overall. Esme definitely has a promising future in this sport and we look forward to seeing what kind of numbers she can put up next year.

As Welfare Officer, Esme will be a friendly face to everyone within the club. Any concerns on your mind, feel free to talk to Esme. by @uonpl

Introducing the man behind the scenes of these posts, we have our Publicity Officer for this year Narain Anisetti 🔰

Narain plans to showcase what goes on within our society and build a solid foundation with the online community on Instagram AND TikTok. Narain is already quite experienced with his social media skills, posting somewhat regularly on TikTok as well having good knowledge with editing skills. He plans to display everyone’s lifts on the instagram page, and provide entertainment for every type of audience.

Narain joined the club last year as a fresher with no experience in powerlifting. Having adequate gym experience, @milez.mz took him under his wing to build his foundation in powerlifting (Miles regrets this decision to this day). Narain has competed three times so far this year, (guy couldn’t hit BUCs QT the first time). Hitting his BUCs QT at SSG after failing to qualify at Lincoln he eventually made his BUCs debut with a solid total of 617.5KG.

Let’s see if Narain can get his bench press up to standard next year and manage to not be first out in a flight for bench (like client like coach). by @uonpl

Introducing one of our Social Secretaries this year we have Sam Harris 🔰

Sam has really proved himself to be worthy of Social Sec this year, having had solid attendance for our socials, and also never backing down from a challenge. Whether it’s chopping a cider liter or a pint, this man is always up for a challenge. Sam will be working along @roz.pl_ to organise our socials and ensuring that everyone has a fun time.

Sam has quite a bit of powerlifting experience prior to joining our club. Having represented the Isle of Man national team at the commonwealth championship, as well as Home Nations. Sam competed at SSG earlier this year, setting PBs on all of his lifts. We can definitely say that Sam has a promising future in this sport, we look forward to seeing what he can bring to the club! by @uonpl

Introducing one of our Social Secretaries this year we have Rosalyn Lewers 🔰

Rosalyn has attended almost every social this year and has been really friendly with all of our members. Alongside @samjh.gym, our social secretaries will be responsible for organising our weekly socials throughout the year. They will ensure that everyone has an enjoyable time and that the socials are up to everyone’s standards.

Rosalyn is still in her first year of powerlifting, having competed for the first time at SSG earlier this year. It was a great debut for her and we are all eager to see what she can bring to the club’s future! by @uonpl

Introducing our General Secretary this year we have Julia Sopel 🔰

Julia joined the club this year as a fresher and has since then competed at Ace Christmas Champs in December as an U57, adding +10kg to her total. Then competed at BUCs as an U63, adding +17.5kg to her total. It’s safe to say that Julia definitely knows how to progress in this sport. So much more to come from her this year!

As General Secretary, Julia will be responsible for ensuring that all of our work behind the scenes will be handled effectively. by @uonpl
