If you’re new around here… allow me to reintroduce myself 👋🏼✨

I’m Corann (like Lauren… but with a C 🤝🏼), and apparently these days I’m a…

👩🏼‍🎨 Painter
🪚 Self-taught carpenter
🧱 Amateur bricky
🪏 Landscaper
🖼️ Interior designer (of my own house 😂)
💒 Wedding planner (because I’m marrying my favourite person next year)
🐾 Dog mum
🤸 Certified weirdo

Basically I’m too stubborn (and too tight 😂) to pay someone else to renovate my house when I know I’m capable of learning how to do it myself. So over the years I’ve picked up a few skills from YouTube, my Dad and trial and error 😅

I started this page to share DIY projects and hopefully encourage a few more people to pick up a paintbrush, power tool or paving slab themselves. Somehow we’ve gone from 150 followers at the start of the year to over 1,200 and I genuinely can’t believe it 🧡🩷

🧠🧘🏼‍♀️ DIY is so much more than just making my house look pretty. It’s been one of the biggest outlets for my mental health, giving me something creative to pour my energy into and reminding me that even the smallest project can make a tough day feel a little brighter 💖

DIY can still feel like such a male-dominated space, so meeting so many supportive, talented and like-minded people on Instagram has been one of the best parts of this journey. Every message saying I’ve inspired you to give a project a go or pick up a new tool genuinely means the absolute world to me 🫶🏼

Thanks for being here, whether you’ve followed since day one or you’ve only just found my page. Here’s to levelling up our homes (and our mental health) one dreamy project at a time 💪🏼💕

Ad. First project in our new home accomplished 🥂

Perks of having a retired DIY loving dad means I had an extra pair of hands most days to help turn this around within just 10 days of receiving the keys! 🔑

The goal of creating a cosy relaxing bedroom has definitely been achieved here, I feel so much joy and peace whenever I step into this room 🧘🏼‍♀️☁️

Welcome onboard this home transformation journey with me - Which room should I transform next!? 😍

Hello everyone! 👋🏼 I realised I’ve never properly introduced the person behind this little DIY corner of the internet - So hi, my name is Corann 👩🏼‍🎨✨ (like Lauren but with a C)

Over the last couple years I’ve transformed friends’ and family’s homes, but I can’t tell you how excited I am to finally start sharing the transformation of my own home in the next couple of months - so watch this space! 🏠

The name Up Abode came from my dream of helping transform homes into those heavenly little spaces we all long for - whether that’s cozy corners, joy filled rooms, or spaces that just feel dreamy ☁️

When I’m not in my trusty overalls - you’ll usually find me cuddling my 2 fur babies 🐕‍🦺🐶 spending time with my partner & family 🌎 or making memories with friends 💕

Fun fact: I love live music and have already been to 10 concerts in 2025 and the year’s not even over yet! 🎵🤘🏼 (currently 2 more shows to go)

🤍 On a slightly more real note, I’ve battled depression and anxiety most of my life, and tapping into my creativity has been such an important outlet for my mental health. Getting to share these projects here has been such a joy for me 🤍

Thank you for following along so far - it means the world that you’re here 🤗

I love having a nosey into other people’s days so thought it was only fair 🔨🛒✨

Is it just me or is takeaway pizza better the next day 🍕

This was skirting board install day 2 and after being on my hands and knees for a couple days I took myself out for a well earned mooch 🛍️

I am on the hunt for a gorgeous large ceiling light to go in the lounge, I was hoping for a Zara Home dupe… but the search continues 💡⚡️

Perks of working on the lounge means having the tele on in the background, anyone spot @vanwives 🩷 and of course caught up on my fav 🪩💃🏻

We’ve been in our home since last November, and after almost a year of renovation chaos, we’re finally starting to do the little things that make it feel like ours 🥹

We’re by no means finished - but some days, the big jobs feel completely overwhelming, and it’s easy to feel like you’re not doing enough. I definitely beat myself up on the days I haven’t made progress but my body needs rest 😵‍💫🥱

Progress doesn’t always have to look like tackling the biggest thing on your to do list. Sometimes it’s just one small thing, and that’s enough for today 🤍

I hope this reaches someone who needs to hear this 🧘🏼‍♀️✨🧠🫶🏼

Hello lovelies 👋🏼 I’m Corann ✨🫶🏼😘

I came home from a girls’ trip to a whole heap of new friends following along with my little DIY corner of the internet 🥹 So, welcome welcome!! I’m so happy you’re here 🥰🤍

I thought I’d jump on the bestie trend and share a few little bits about me that aren’t DIY-related 🔨 because whilst I LOVE sharing the chaos of my house projects with you, I thought my page deserved a little moment of calm too 🧘🏼‍♀️✨🩷

So… swipe through to find out if we’d be besties IRL 👩🏼‍🐰‍👩🏾🧋💖

And please tell me in the comments if we have any of these in common 😍🥰 by @up.abode

Skirting boards are going in after having LVT installed throughout the downstairs 👌🏼

There’s a certain responsibility that comes with installing something that could potentially remain in this house long after we’ve left it. If it’s going to be there for years and years, I want to know I’ve done it properly and left it looking as good as it possibly can 🤌🏼✨

No house is perfectly square, so I always check the angles rather than just assuming they’re 90°. Making sure the cuts meet and join together perfectly makes such a difference to the finished look 😍

A few years ago, some of these angle cuts would have needed a few attempts to get right… now I’m getting nearly all of them first time, which I’m dead chuffed with! 😎💪🏼

Next up: caulk all the edges, fill all the holes and continue the ugly lounge transformation 🙊 its come SUCH a long way!!!

Slowly getting there, one job at a time 💥

When your pug is the colour swatch 🐶🤣

Our new flooring matches the dog better than the furniture, did I choose it or did she?

It’s disguising the fur though tbf! 😅

September highlights ♍️✨

The biggest achievement of September might well be the biggest achievement in the house so far… OUR GORGEOUS HERRINGBONE FLOORING 🥹🤎

We dug up the kitchen floor tiles, ripped out all the downstairs laminate and had gorgeous herringbone LVT installed throughout the ENTIRE downstairs - no gaps, no joins, just continuous, warm, cosy wood tones and honestly… I’m obsessed 😍☁️

I went slightly mental with the prep for the new flooring and tried to tick off as many messy jobs as possible while we were at it. The lounge got painted and I started panelling it (I should probably finish that at some point 👀) but the coving dilemma has been holding things up… and I have a MAJOR update on that coming very, very soon. Eeeeee!!! 🙊

It was also my birthday month 🎈 and whilst skirting boards may genuinely be the most useful birthday present I’ve ever received 😂 seeing Ariana Grande was a pretty major bucket-list tick and made the month feel extra special 🥹🫶🏼✨

So many lovely memories, some MEGA house achievements and a very satisfying transition into autumn/winter 🍂🏡🍁

Feeling very, very grateful for this little house and everything we’re making of it 🙏🏼🤍 September, you’ve been a good’un.

The flooring reveal is HERE 🤎✨

If you’ve been here for a while, you’ll know this floor has been a journey…

We started with mismatched flooring throughout the downstairs - tiles in the kitchen, click & lock panels everywhere else, gaps between the two and a whole lot of cold grey tones 🫠

Then we had holes in the kitchen floor from knocking the wall down and THEN the lounge leak earlier this year decided to make things even more interesting, soaking the laminate and leaving us with wet, mouldy flooring 😑

So, naturally… we ripped the LOT up! And now we have this 🥹✨

A completely seamless floor running throughout the entire downstairs, with warm wood tones and the most gorgeous herringbone pattern. We went for “Natural Studio Oak” LVT by Karndean and I genuinely couldn’t love it more 😍💭

It’s made such a difference to the whole space and finally feels like the warm, cosy home we’ve been trying to create 🤎

Although… we’re not quite finished yet 👀

Next job: skirting boards. Because there’s ALWAYS another job 😂

What do you think of the transformation? 🫶🏼

BUH-BYE mismatched, ugly, damp, damaged downstairs flooring!!! 👋🏼 You will NOT be missed.

It’s been a pretty full-on couple of weeks getting everything as ready as possible for the installation of LVT throughout our entire downstairs 🫠

As you might have seen in my other posts, I’ve been working night and day to get through as many of the messy jobs as I could before the new flooring arrived. But the deadline is HERE, and whatever isn’t done is going to have to wait 😂

We had to prioritise getting all the skirting boards out, digging up and removing the old flooring, and filling any holes that the screed might have poured into. Not the most enjoyable jobs, but all part of the process!

And now we’re finally at the point where the new flooring is going in, and I genuinely cannot WAIT for you to see it🤩✨

Just you wait until you see how GORGEOUS our new flooring is. I’m OBSESSED already 😍🥹
