POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Hello lovelies! It’s been a minute but we’ve been squirrelling away behind the scenes working on our next big venture.

At Uproar Arts, we’re deeply committed to supporting artists within the Fringe and Cabaret communities, and we’re embarking on a really exciting and important project in October 2026.

We’re raising funds to support the production costs for a new documentary, which aims to increase awareness around mental health and addiction in the arts. Your support will directly help us cover these essential expenses, allowing us to bring this vital story to life and share it widely among the Fringe communities.

The documentary, made in collaboration with brilliant up-and-coming filmmaker Maxwell Downer, will be showcased at the World Fringe Convention 2027.

Featuring Rich Watkins - Fringe favourite and star of Happily Ever Poofter - as he returns to the stage at Colchester Fringe 2026.

In 2024, Rich Watkins was due to perform his award-winning solo show Happily Ever Poofter at Colchester Fringe Festival. Just before the festival, however, he experienced a mental health crisis that forced him to cancel his performances. The following year was spent focusing on recovery.

Now, in October 2026, Rich will return to Colchester Fringe to perform the show he was unable to bring to audiences two years ago. His return marks not only a significant personal milestone but also the beginning of a documentary that will explore the realities of mental health and addiction within the creative industries.

This documentary is so important to us because it addresses challenges that many face but are often kept hidden. By increasing awareness, we hope to spark vital conversations and support those working within the arts.

We would be so grateful if you could consider backing our project or sharing it with your network to help us reach our goal.

If you’re in a position to support this project, you can find the link in our bio.

Thank you so much! Xx by @uproararts

What a night!
Huge congratulations to the wonderful winner of our inaugural @brightonfringe Cabaret Award @tamara_astor for Unforgettable: An Alzheimer’s Cabaret!
A beautiful show that takes its audience on a poignant journey through love, loss and grief and still manages to deliver humour and magical whimsy. An absolute joy and a hugely deserving winner!

It was so difficult to choose a winner from the incredibly varied and wonderful shows that we saw this month that we also had to award a Runner Up prize to the magnificent @shika564dayo for 2 Shoulderpads: Galaxy Train. A truly original show almost impossible to describe but so full of laughs, beauty and even unexpected tears.

We have had such a wonderful month of being endlessly impressed by the creativity, originality and quality of shows we have seen. Thank you to everyone who applied for this award. We appreciate you all and we see how hard you all worked to bring your shows to life. You are all superstars. Thank you for doing what you do 💜 by @uproararts

Brighton Fringe Awards Ceremony!!
I may not have been a winner tonight, but I’m still a fucking winner!! First ever solo show, first Brighton fringe (a dream since moving here), sell-out show, incredible reviews, and now an award nominee!! What? Bloody speechless.

Such a huge thank you to all those who have supported and been on this mad journey with me.

Massive thank you to @uproararts, the associates of the cabaret award.

And another shout out to the awesome venue I performed in @theactorsbrighton - who did win tonight! Best small venue, and they certainly are. Loved being there, again what a dream 💕

Same again next year??!
