Jason of @nolaminiworkshop has designed a beautiful Beacon Hill that I really admire. He is a fantastic miniaturist who I got to work on the main bedroom. This bedding was a fun challenge! My favorite room transformation in my unique, handmade dollhouse is the kitchen. It's been a lot of simple steps that add up to a cute, cozy space. I used so many fun techniques here and just played and played until I got it the way I wanted.
I love the ease of using edge banding to transform the floors, but paint is really the star of this little kitchen. The faux marble countertops, the stone work on the archway, transforming plastic bakeware to look like stoneware, the table I made by hand and then painted, etc. So. Much. Fun. And it makes a great Before and After! by @upscale_minis

I love it when there is a custom order on my work table! The request was a Western theme, and I happened to be designing a mini quilt in these colors. I love how it came together, and my customer did too! Whew. 😁❤️

Tiny Art
I really loved this painting technique! I was so into it, for a couple of years. It was such a mix of technical skill and creativity that I found it challenging and therapeutic. When I realized I was allergic to the pouring medium, I was devastated. I kept my favorite canvases, even though there were tons of them and I really didn't have the space.
I am so glad I kept them! When I got back into miniatures, I realized that I could cut my canvases down and use them in my minis. Abstract art like this was perfect for that. I love revisiting that happy creativity and making Tiny Art!

Special to Me

This little doe miniature has been in my jewelry box for over 40 years. She is over 50 years old. She had a place of honor in the annual gingerbread village my Mom would make each Christmas season when I was little.

I lost my mom to cancer when I was 17, and I put this little treasure away then. I have very few things from my Mom. I saw it in my jewelry box this week and realized my kids don't know her story! They don't know where my love of miniatures comes from, which is my Mom. And by this time next year, I'll have grandbabies also.
Preserving memories is so important to me, especially for my family. I am so inspired to create a Christmas scene to share my memories of my mom and to create new ones with those most special to me! Thank you for sparking the idea, Jaime and Bill! ❤️
