It was such a beautiful moment for us to sing for the wedding of Karl and Maly as they stepped into this new chapter as one. 💍

From Karl's days as a young chorister with UP Serenata and now into married life, we have had the privilege of seeing him grow within the organization and in his journey as a person.

And for those who have known Karl through the years, hearing him sing Lagkaw during the reception was a moment that felt especially fitting. Long considered one of his signature songs, it has been part of Karl's musical journey for as long as many of us can remember. On this day, that familiar song found new meaning as it became part of yet another milestone in his story, and now, a beautiful new chapter shared with Maly. ✨

Congratulations, Karl and Maly! Thank you for letting us share this beautiful moment with you.

May your life together be filled with love, joy, and music for years to come. 🤍

Today, we celebrate not just the ever-dedicated adviser of UP Serenata, but the woman who has become a home to all of us. Thank you for guiding us with patience, grounding us with wisdom, and loving us for more than 2 decades in ways only a true “mother” could.

Through every rehearsal, performance, and in-between moment, your presence reminds us why we sing—not just for music, but for community, connection, and care.

Like a melody that’s grown richer with every passing year, your light continues to inspire, nurture, and uplift generations of Serenata members—proof that some harmonies only get better with time.

In solemn reflection of Good Friday, UP Serenata was honored to serve in the Tinieblas (Tenebrae) – Biyernes Santo at St. Therese Parish, together with the St. Therese Liturgical Choir.

Through sacred music and silence, we joined the community in remembering Christ’s passion with reverence and prayer.

We are grateful to be part of this meaningful liturgy. 🙏

UP Serenata entered the field of play at the Grand Opening of UP Cebu’s Intramurals themed, DAGAN 2026: Iskolaro x Cookout last March 23. With the invocation and the Philippine National Anthem, we helped open the day as the community stepped into a week of games, energy, and school spirit. 🎶

We are grateful for the opportunity to share our music with the UPC community as we celebrate camaraderie, sportsmanship, and the spirit of friendly competition. In every game played, may we carry the same passion, unity, and purpose that bring us together as Iskolars. 📣

𝑷𝒂𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒂𝒚 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒂 𝒔𝒂 𝑼𝑷 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒂! 💛🎶

UP Serenata proudly celebrates the members who represented the University of the Philippines Cebu at the ASUGBOHOL PASUC 2026 Regional Cultural Games held at the University of the Philippines Cebu, Performing Arts Hall, bringing to the stage not only their talent but also the powerful stories behind every song performed. 📖

Guided by our esteemed conductor, Dr. Catherine Rodel, along with UP Serenata Alumni, Jude Antoine Rondina Lugsanay, Danielle Victoria, and MJ Jamio, the delegation brought to the stage a repertoire that spoke of memory, culture, identity, and love through music. 🎼

We are proud to share the achievements of our members:
🏅 Kundiman Solo | 2nd Runner Up - Shann Ann-gela Laus
🏅 Pop Solo | 3rd Runner Up - Hilari Gabay Pagaran
🏅 Quartet | 1st Runner Up - Tiffany Trish Lalata, Jam Magdalera, Dan Montenegro, Cris Anthony Igot
🏅 Standard Choir | 2nd Runner Up
🏅 Show Choir | 3rd Runner Up

Through storms, stories, and songs of love, Serenata’s voices carried meaning beyond the stage. More than the results, what we carried home was the shared feeling we all had after stepping off the stage. We were happy, proud, content, and deeply fulfilled because we knew we had given everything we had to the music. Some victories are not measured in medals, but in the feeling of giving your all. 🏆

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to our incredible Probee PASUC Managers, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this journey possible:
🌻 Paula Thea Coleen B. Nacua
🌻 Justinne May Laquio
🌻 Nathanea Lexine J. Dela Cerna
🌻 Dansel Joy B. Salcedo

Thank you for your dedication, patience, and unwavering support to the entire Serenata family. 🫶

In the end, the journey, the experience, and the lessons learned are already victories we will carry with us long after the final note. Because in every rehearsal, every performance, and every story sung together, we are reminded of one thing:

𝑴𝒂𝒚 𝒑𝒂𝒈-𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒈, 𝒍𝒂𝒈𝒊’𝒕 𝒍𝒂𝒈𝒊, 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒂 𝒔𝒂 𝒎𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒌𝒂. 🤍🎶

𝙎𝙐𝙆𝙊𝙇 𝙎𝙀𝙍𝙀𝙉𝘼𝙏𝘼! 🔥💛

As we approach the ASUGBOHOL SUC 2026 Regional Cultural Games, we lift our prayers and full support to our delegates who have prepared tirelessly for this moment. Beyond perfecting notes and harmonies, we committed to let the music come from a place of sincerity, and to remember who and what this performance is for. 🎶

Every early rehearsal, every correction, and every quiet sacrifice now lead us to this stage. We carry with us the the hope of making the University proud, and trust that all these efforts will come to fruition. 🌱

On March 5, we take the stage at the Performing Arts Hall, University of the Philippines Cebu. We warmly invite the UP Cebu community and our friends to watch and show your support as we represent the University with heart and gratitude. ✊

We are grateful to be part of Puso ng Pasko, @citadinescebucity’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony 🎄🤍

Inspired by pusô, the occasion beautifully weaves Cebuano identity, culture, and way of life, bringing Christmas to life in true Filipino fashion.

As a choral group that advocates to sustain, continue, and propagate Cebuano culture through choral music, it is a privilege to take part in a celebration that brings the soul of Cebu to life for both local and international guests.

Thank you, Citadines Cebu City, for inviting us to join a festivity that truly reflects the heart of Cebu. ✨

𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 | 𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗮 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

Night settles over Cebu with the kind of heaviness that follows calamity.

Just months earlier, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake shook the island awake, leaving homes cracked and families unsettled. Aftershocks lingered like unwelcome reminders of how suddenly life can break. Then came Typhoon Tino, swelling rivers and flooding barangays still trying to recover. People carried what they could; many lost what they couldn’t.

Woven through these disasters is the long-running storm of corruption, weakening systems long before any rainfall arrives. Failed flood control projects. Mismanaged funds. Neglect that reveals itself most brutally during disaster response.

And yet, in these failures, something steadier emerged. Communities held one another closer. They shared food, floors, and grief that was never meant to be carried alone. On a smaller and more intimate scale, that same spirit of connection took shape one December evening at the University of the Philippines Cebu.

IN PHOTOS | UP Symphony Orchestra serenades Cebu in concert for hope, solidarity against corruption

The UP Symphony Orchestra (UPSO) once again serenaded UP Cebu on December 3, bringing holiday spirit in their special holiday concert, “Duyog sa Pasko Kagahapon ug Karon: A Music for Healing & Hope.” The performance at UP Cebu followed a show the previous day at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino.

The evening began with a ceremonial Christmas tree lighting, marking a moment oeflection before the concert. Held in the wake of recent calamities that struck Cebu, the event offered moving and uplifting performances that celebrate the spirit of the season and the UP community’s collective hopes.

Reflecting on the concert’s role in serving the community, Maestro Josefino Chino Toledo, UPSO’s founding director and conductor, shared, “Walang silbi ang musika kung hindi para sa bayan. For us, ito’y isang paraan para maramdaman at maipakita namin yung kaya naming gawin sa musika para sa pagtulong sa bayan… Laging ganoon, wala naman talagang silbi ang musika kung hindi natin gagawin para sa bayan.”

(Music has no purpose if it is not for the people. For us, this is a way to feel and show what we can do through music in service of the nation.. It has always been that way; music means nothing if we do not make it for the people.)

Under Toledo’s baton, the orchestra opened with two festive, high-spirited pieces—Robert Sheldon’s A Most Wonderful Christmas and Les Toreadors from the Carmen overture. They later followed with Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance Marches Nos. 2 and 4, Krogstad’s The Bells of Christmas, the lively Tico-Tico no Fubá, John Ottman’s Superman Returns suite, and Leroy Anderson’s Christmas Festival medley.
