This month, we’re taking another look at @bgandyart with Close Enough to the Rainbow.

Soft blues and yellows give way to saturated pinks and reds, while those darker moments keep everything grounded. We especially love seeing a piece with this much energy against a quieter, more natural interior.

We’re proud to share Beth’s work alongside our friends at @upstartmodern.

Bettina Stiewe | UPSTART MODERN

Bettina Stiewe is the Principal of Upstart Modern, based in the San Francisco Bay Area with a presence in Sausalito, Mill Valley, and San Carlos. Her practice is grounded in twelve years as an art dealer and fifteen as a consultant, with membership in the San Francisco Art Dealers Association, ongoing board service at Headlands Center for the Arts, and candidate membership in the Appraisers Association of America. In 2025, Upstart Modern produced six exhibitions, including work recognized by the Center for Photographic Arts. The practice has been featured in Architectural Digest and Luxe Magazine.

June 1st marks what would have been Marilyn Monroe's 100th birthday, and we could not let it pass without sharing this.

Hanging in our San Carlos studio is a photograph by @lawrenceschiller, one of the last living photographers who had the privilege of documenting her. Over a career spanning decades, Lawrence documented some of the most iconic figures in American history for Life, Look, Time, Newsweek, and beyond. His images of Marilyn are among the most intimate ever taken. They do not feel like artifacts. They feel alive, like you just walked into the room a moment too late.

We are proud to represent Lawrence's work through our partnership with @upstartmodern, and this piece is available through the studio. If you have ever wanted to own a piece of photographic history, this is a rare one.
