The Whirlpool Galaxy (M51)

Distance from Earth: Located 23 to 31 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici.Age & Formation: The main galaxy is roughly 400 million years old in its current spiral structure, while its oldest core stars are over 8 billion years old.Movement Speed: It is cruising through space at a velocity of about 463 kilometers per second.Star Count: The Whirlpool Galaxy holds roughly 100 billion stars.Cosmic Rotation: It takes the outer edges of the galaxy about 250 million years to complete one single rotation.The Companion (M51B): The smaller dwarf galaxy next to it is called NGC 5195 (or M51B).The Cosmic Collision: M51B has been colliding and dancing with M51 for the last 500 to 600 million years, having already pierced through M51's main disk twice.Current Position: M51B has glided past the main galaxy and is currently sitting slightly behind M51 from Earth's point of view.The Final Fate: They will continue to tear at each other until they completely merge into one single giant galaxy a few hundred million years from now. by @ur.fav_maz

A very special experience to share!

sharing a unique astrophotography experience with all of you. Recently, I secured 3rd position in the DwarfLab competition, and as a reward, I got an exclusive live session with Cosmic Nearness!During this live session, we targeted the Andromeda and Whirlpool Galaxy using their Seastar S30 Pro telescope. I was there with him on the live stream and he explained me step-by-step on the live screen how pictures are taken and how data is captured. I got some stacked data and the final image,

Some facts about this galaxy 💜 ✨️
Distance from Earth: It is located about 2.5 million light-years away from us, making it the most distant object visible to the naked eye.Age: The galaxy formed roughly 10 billion years ago, but its current massive structure was created by a merger of smaller galaxies 2 to 3 billion years ago.Star Count: Andromeda contains an estimated 1 trillion stars, which is more than double the number of stars in our Milky Way.The Future Collision: It is speeding toward us at 110 km/s, with a 50% chance of colliding with the Milky Way to form a giant galaxy named 'Milkdromeda'.Time of Collision: Latest studies suggest that if the collision happens, it will take place in 4.5 to 5 billion years, or possibly even 10 billion years.Exploration Reality: Physical exploration is currently impossible; even travelling at the speed of light, it would take 2.5 million years to reach it.Current Study: Humans can only explore it remotely using advanced space telescopes like Hubble and James Webb.Supermassive Black Hole: At the very center of Andromeda lies a massive black hole that is 100 million times more massive than our Sun.

Speed: Andromeda is moving toward our Milky Way galaxy at a speed of about 250,000 miles per hour (400,000 km/h).

Galactic Neighbors: It is the largest and most massive galaxy in our Local Group, which is the cluster of galaxies that includes the Milky Way.

📍rawat fort 🏰

Did you know Rawat Fort wasn’t originally built for war? It started as a caravanserai (an inn for travelers) under the Delhi Sultanate. But history had bloodier plans.
In 1546, this very place became a brutal battleground. The legendary Gakhar chief, Sultan Sarang Khan, along with his 16 brave sons, fought till their last breath defending this land against the invading forces of Sher Shah Suri. Today, the fort’s courtyard holds their final resting places, alongside a beautiful three-domed mosque.
Walking through these ancient gates feels like stepping right into the pages of history. 🇵🇰✨

Did you know Rawat Fort has one of the most tragic histories in the Pothohar region? Originally a peaceful stop for caravans, it became a bloody battleground in 1546. The Gakhar chief Sultan Sarang Khan and his 16 brave sons were killed right here while defending their land against the invading forces of Sher Shah Suri. Today, their graves still rest in the central courtyard. A truly surreal place to visit. 🇵🇰✨
