UR7s Academy 🤝 Ultimate Sevens

Last month, 14 of our UR7s graduates and coaches took part in the @ultimate.sevens Championship. Three weeks. Three cities. Three ground-breaking tournaments.

But the connection between UR7s and Ultimate Sevens runs much deeper than that.

The Ultimate Sevens Championship was born from the same principles as the Academy - that rugby sevens is an incredible way to experience rugby. Short, sharp, easy to play and delivers moments to share. The Academy is, therefore, a founding pillar of the Championship and together will continue to elevate rugby sevens for generations to come.

Representing 7s.

The kit is a big part of creating the right environment around the players - from the design and quality, to teamwear that reflects the demands of sevens rugby.

For the past two years, @ur7sacademy, @samuraisportswear and @kitlocker have worked together to develop bespoke teamwear suited to @ur7sacademy, with the pink representing the South and blue representing the North.

We caught up with the players and coaches to hear what they think of the kit, how it feels on the pitch, and how the partnership continues to support the standards of the UR7s academy.

“The rugby’s great, the coaches are awesome.” 🎤

We spoke to the players at the @ur7sacademy Stonyhurst Camp about their experience, from the sessions themselves to the support they’ve had from the coaching team throughout the camp.

We also caught up with the coaches on what they want players to take away from the camps, and how the coaching approach reflects the pace, decision-making and intensity of sevens rugby.

Since launching in 2013, the National Sevens Academy has been about more than developing rugby players. Its focus is on developing people, not just players - creating an environment that builds the skills, confidence and adaptability to perform on and off the pitch.
