Here’s to new adventures, y’all! ✨ First, a lil’ reminiscing from a post I wrote in 2016, just pulling on our boots for this UB journey. Talk about a cool foreshadow of the trails ahead! 🤠
“Our vision for [Urban Boondocks]: variety, inspiration, serendipity, community. A place infused with a collective energy…..where you find exactly what you never even knew you needed, whether something tangible, an inspiring idea, or a friendly connection. An experience rather than a destination, a place where we gather and share and appreciate, not just shop.” ✨🥹 One of ours and y’all’s FAVORITE things over the years has been shop parties & events, soooo…..

From brick & mortar retail to a primed up canvas for community connection, Urban Boondocks will shift to an open-ended, creative gathering hub, right in the heart of Route 66!! 😎 With endless ideas for pop-up events, from vendor fairs to live music, farmers’ markets to festivals, workshops to hangouts, and everything in between, we are doubling down on creative freedom, community ties & artistic inspiration. A genuine Town Square to host all kinds of magic! 🤩 This building’s historic bones, plus the killer expansion we completed a few years ago gives us over 2500sf of funky indoor space (and my favorite back patio ever) to get our Boondocks groove on! 💃🏼🕺🏻

We’ll be sharing more details along the way & letting you in on the process, but in the meantime, GET IN HERE & GET YOUR SHOPPING FIX! 🤠 It’s business as usual until Christmas, with new treasures & sale racks, local goods & quirky finds, gifts for gals & stuff for fellas, you name it, stocked to the rafters. Spread the word & help get these shelves cleared for some good-timin’! 🙌🏼

We are bittersweet like y’all are about this current chapter closing, but if you know me & my left brain at all, you know this new gig is gonna stir up some good ol’ days fun! I haven’t felt this much serendipity building up in a while, and it’s my favorite thing in the world! ✨ Trust me…. If I’m good at anything, it’s dreamin’ it & wingin’ it. 😉 So much love to y’all! ~Desiree

Alrighty y’all, we’ve been sittin’ on a secret! WE’VE GOT SOME MAGIC IN THE WORKS FOR 2026!! ✨After simmering this idea for a few years now, we’re excited to finally start spillin’ some beans! It’s gonna change things around here, but this new adventure sure waters the grass roots of Urban Boondocks, opening the doors to limitless creative possibilities & even stronger community ties! 🤠

Although this next chapter won’t be in full swing until sometime next year, we’ve gotta rip off the ol’ bittersweet bandaid here: As a regular retail storefront, we will be wrapping things up this Christmas Eve, 2025. 🥲 Y’all, this is the ONLY part of this whole deal that stings!! After resurrecting this old Route 66 building a decade ago, we built Urban Boondocks Market with our hearts & souls, right alongside so many old & new friends! We’ve collaborated with the most talented local makers & shakers, and shared heaps of hats, chats, memories & hugs with the most loving community….we’ll miss the day-to-day bigtime! 🥹 But on that creative path less travelled, you’ve gotta trust the sparks of inspiration and fan them flames. ❤️‍🔥 Urban Boondocks isn’t going away…..we’re just evolving! ✨

Through Dec. 24 of this year, we’ll keep regular shop hours (+ extra holiday shopping), leaving plenty of time to come say hi & get your fix! AND SPEND ANY GIFTCARDS YOU HAVE! (We don’t even let them expire, so if you’ve got one from five years ago, come on in & get some fun loot! 👊🏼) We’ll be running some sales soon & still bringing in new goodies through year end!!

More details to come….We’ve had awesome feedback about this new direction from some trusted folks, and we can’t wait to share the plans with y’all! We love our village & are so grateful for you guys hangin’ with us all these years! We won’t be strangers, we promise! 😉 Stay tuned and come see us in the meantime while the gettin’s good! ❤️

Look how much goodtimin’ space we’re fixin’ to have, y’all!! 🤩🤘🏼 You guys went to TOWN these final retail weekends & we LOVE you for it! It’s been the sweetest 8 years of the OG Urban Boondocks, making countless connections & memories in an old school brick & mortar spot, just like back in the day! We’ve stretched our creative wings, learned more than I could’ve imagined, met folks we were absolutely fated to meet, and been beyond inspired by the whole trip. So many wishes have already come true here, with all kinds of ripples in the ol’ well! And if you ask me, those ripples are where the MAGIC happens. ✨

To our amazing village: thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for every bit of love y’all have poured into this joint and every dime you’ve spent for a small family business to thrive! ❤️ Since day one, y’all have helped polish this lil gem on Route 66….and we’re all kinds of excited about what’s cookin’ for Urban Boondocks!! It’s gonna be a dang hoot, folks! 🤠

We love every one you cool cats, and we won’t be strangers….Stay tuned!! ❤️

It’s been a little bittersweet this weekend….but it’s also totally solidified our path. ✨ The best part about this whole deal is the connections we’ve made with people we’re meant to love—and strengthening ties with fam & friends—and we’re only getting started! ❤️ Here’s to more magic, more fun, & more REAL LIFE SHIT off the grid!! We love y’all!! 🤠🍻
