⚠️Attention Urban Ore Shoppers - WE ARE NOW READY TO TAKE OFFERS ON THESE SCULPTURES! INQUIRE WITHIN IF INTERESTED! THANKS ⚠️

Berkeley sculptor Robert Boardman Howard (1896 - 1983) left a legacy of public art throughout the Bay Area, including pieces at Coit Tower, the SF Stock Exchange, City College, Oakland’s Paramount Theater and Yosemite Valley’s Ahwahnee Hotel. He also left behind a vast collection of unsold artwork, some of which has found its way to Urban Ore!

These pieces have been in storage for decades, and probably date to the late 1960s. Three massive figures, resin and fiberglass with touches of other materials. These are truly special, one of one pieces. The family also dropped off some smaller works and a few odd bits of Howard’s Calder-inspired mobiles.

If any collectors or curators have further information on these pieces, please reach out in the comments or email to info@urbanore.com. The figure in the cast resin boat rests on a wooden plinth that lights up from underneath. The showering figure “6 O’Clock (1968)” stands about 8 feet high and rests on a plaster base. The figure on the rope, a close relative of Howard’s “Naked Man” at UC Santa Cruz, is similar in scale and includes mounting hardware.

All three sculptures are currently on offer for $3000 a piece. The smaller carved plastic head, along with a few other pieces not pictured here, are priced individually between $500 - $1000 and are on display in our General Store Gallery. Come check them out!
