Sitting off the side of an interstate deep in the south lies this abandoned waterpark. Construction began in 2009 with plans to open on July 4th 2010, but the park’s opening was delayed due to “weather and permit related issues.”

This park included 6 water slides, with a four-lane race slide, along with a 920-foot-long lazy river with a lagoon and a 9,500 square foot pirate and sea creature themed kiddie area. With A 1,200 square foot pool with island for the adults.

Welcome to Houston’s Greenspoint mall. Originally opened on August 5th 1976, this mall was once the largest in Houston until the Galleria’s expansion in 1980.
Greenspoint Mall earned the local nickname “Gunspoint” due to an increase in crime, robberies, and carjackings in its surrounding area and parking lots. Most famous incident including the 1991 kidnapping and murder of Harris County Deputy Roxyanne Allee in the mall’s parking lot.
On May 23, 2024 it was announced that the mall would be closing on June 30, 2024. Tenants were only given 1 day to move everything out, after which the mall would permanently shutter to tenants

Abandoned / closed hospital that has been left sitting for years now with all the equipment inside and power still on. This was once the top surgical hospital in its area until it ran into financial problems and was forced to shut their doors. These photos were taken a while ago, this place has since been raided and trashed

The abandoned goat house 🐐🏡

Apparently the owner passed away and this property was left vacant and forgotten until new owners recently bought it and started fixing the place up. Used to be goats on the property but couldn’t get close enough to them for a good picture, the goats have been relocated and are no longer on the property.

Abandoned arcade, now gutted and being sold off.

A once popular arcade company in Houston has now unfortunately gone bankrupt and has sold everything. They ceased operations due to poor customer satisfaction, neglected facilities, and lack of business during the pandemic. But the following company couldn’t keep their doors open either and permanently shut down their remaining facilities, leaving the buildings completely abandoned.

Abandoned High School in a small town. Built in the early 1930’s, forced to close due to newer and bigger schools being built around it. Class of 2012 was the final class to graduate from here.

A Lutheran church is a Protestant denomination originating from reformation efforts of Martin Luther. It emphasizes salvation by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ, the authority of the Bible, and sacramental worship (baptism and communion). Lutherans often consider themselves “evangelical catholic.”

This is a Futuro house, designed by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen and was originally designed as a “portable” ski chalet. Only about 100 were built during the 1960s and 1970s due to production being stopped in 1973 because the oil crisis caused plastic prices to triple.

It is estimated that about 50 to 60 of the original Futuro houses are still around today. These iconic fiberglass “UFO” structures are scattered globally with roughly 19 believed to remain in the United States. The rest are believed to be located in countries like Finland, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, South Africa, and Russia.

The shape which resembles a flying saucer or “UFO”, and the structure’s airplane hatch entrance, has made the houses sought after by collectors and there’s even a waiting list to buy one.

Found this abandoned Martin 404 passenger plane which was able to carry up to around 40 souls at one point. Originally built in 1952, this exact plane flew under multiple airlines including a small airline called Air South which was bought out In 1975 by Florida Airlines. Today this plane sits in a field along the interstate, finally getting the rest it deserves after 65 years of service. Would be nice to see it restored and turned into something.

The last few photos are of the plane back when it was operational.

Small facts for anyone who wants to know.
This is a 1952 Martin 404 aircraft with 2 × Pratt & Whitney R-2800 engines. It had 2000 Horsepower, weighs over 20,000 pounds and had a top speed of 210mph.
