Every good session has people you don’t see in the final track and studio assistants are often the unsung heroes.
Last week’s session for @cieramackenzieofficial song had a lot of moving parts. We tracked live with the whole band playing together in the room, no overdubs. That only works when someone’s covering every gap behind the scenes.
@ericgonzo88 and @sneakykittyyy stayed two steps ahead all day so the artists could just focus on playing. That kind of thing doesn’t show up in the recording, but you’d feel it if it wasn’t there.
Long day, good music, great people

Something special in the works. We started tracking the audiobook for @autumn2grace memoir I Have To Tell.
Her story, her words and her voice.
It’s been a long road, dear to us in ways that are hard to explain, and we can finally see the finish line.
She’s braver than she knows and I’m grateful to be able to help.

Had the best time mixing this one. @four_fires_burn can really play. The harmonies, the way the whole band lands together, everyone locked in.
Always grateful to work with independent artists this good.

Dialing in the drum mics for a session at the studio. These are my go-to choices for tracking drums, I like to keep it simple and let the kit and the room do the talking.
Always great having artists like @camielen in the room. If you’re a band or artist looking to track drums in LA, my door’s open.
Clips from this session coming soon.

Pulled this one from the archives. @nikhikorula cutting the intro to Crossroads live in the room, back when we made his blues record.
Some sessions just stay with you.

Neumann U48 — Serial #201 (price by DM)

A rare one’s leaving the studio. Neumann U48, serial number 201, with the M940-R power supply and cable, from Aspen Pittman’s private collection, and by its serial, part of the very first U48 batch ever made.

Perfect working condition, beautiful shape for its age. The kind of mic that’s earned its place on countless records.

I don’t use it as often as it deserves, and I believe gear like this should be making music. Hoping it goes to someone who’ll put it to work.

DM for price and details. by @urigelman

Late night in the room, deep in this one.
@georgeharrisonofficial wrote “Isn’t It a Pity” about how easily we hurt each other and how we take love for granted and forget to give it back.
Decades later it still hits. We’re more connected than ever, yet somehow further apart, still letting the good stuff slip by.
@four_fires_burn didn’t just cover this song, they felt it and you can hear it in every bar.

@four_fires_burn new music on the way.
This was one of those sessions where you don’t have to force anything.
Band in the room, everyone locked in, just playing. You can feel it.
If you’ve got songs sitting around, might be time to bring them into the room.

Hey bands — this is what live tracking really feels like. Vicki Thomas, @jeanpierredurand , @lizacarbe & Tim Curle locked in and playing like nobody’s watching. No overdubs. Just a band on fire. Come make something real.

Been deep in the lab with @olgabemusic lately.
Chasing moments, not perfection.
New music coming soon, and it’s already hitting in all the right ways.
