#FridayFeature Scenes from this week's #ACIEE2026!

The 29th Annual Colloquium on International Engineering Education (ACIEE) was hosted this year by the @universityofga in Athens, Georgia!

The @universityofri IEP team consisted of Dr. Sigrid Berka, executive director of the IEP, Dr. Damon Rarick, and IEP students Carlos Figueroa Rosales (Italian IEP & civil EGR) and Nate Wright (German IEP & mechanical EGR).

The first two pictures are of the conference's poster exhibit, where our students presented their posters alongside peers from UGA, Georgia Tech and University of Cincinnati.

An event to celebrate Italian Heritage Month! 🇮🇹

The Italian Section of @urilanguagedept invites you to an in-person presentation by Italian teacher and author Daniela D'Amico Henderson:

From Puglia to Rome: Italian History Through Women's Stories

🗓️: Wednesday, October 28, 3:30 – 5:00 PM
📍: Bliss Hall, Conference Room 410
The presentation will be in English. The event is free and open to the public.

The author will present her historical novels La Masseria (conSenso Publishing) and La Signora di Roma (Armando Curcio Editore), and discuss how fiction can bring Italian history to contemporary readers. Set respectively in wartime Puglia and seventeenth-century Rome, the novels explore family, cultural roots, resistance, social change, patriarchy, and women's political agency.

The event offers an accessible introduction to Italian history and culture, and shows how literary narrative can question inherited representations of women and connect private lives with major historical transformations. It is intended for students of Italian language, literature, history, gender studies, and European studies, as well as faculty and the wider URI community. Q&A will follow. by @uriiep

#fridayfeature IEP alums at the 10/13 RTX company visit @uri_business @uriengineering

French IEP & industrial engineering '07 grad Sarah Koenig '07 participated in the RTX/URI alumni panel. Mike Bessette, '08 German IEP & mechanical, also participated in smaller group discussions with attendees.

Thanks to both Sarah and Mike (and of course their fellow RTX colleagues/URI peers) for coming back to URI to share their career experiences with current URI students!
