šŸŒ URIi’S ORBIT IS HERE.

I’ve been quietly building something that feels very much like me.

Urii’s Orbit is my personal editorial journal — a space for theatre, travel, culture, creativity, style and life, told through writing, photography and film.

It’s where I’ll share the things I’m watching, making, wearing, experiencing, questioning and discovering.

The press nights.
The places I go.
The clothes I’m figuring out.
The creative life behind the scenes.
The things I’ve never tried.
The stories I need to write down.

Somewhere between a diary, a magazine and a creative notebook.

This is my perspective.
My experiences.
My curiosities.
My orbit.

And I’m inviting you in.

✨ Welcome to Urii’s Orbit.
Follow along @uriisorbit

@diasporacalling was EVERYTHING. šŸ”„
What an incredible music festival — the talent, the energy, the culture, the creativity… I loved every second of it. It genuinely inspired me and reminded me of the kind of work I want to be part of and the kind of spaces I want to create in.

And honestly… the work I’ve got coming is going to let people know:

YOUR GIRL HAS ARRIVED. šŸ‘€šŸ”„

Watch this space @urielle.aux . I’m only getting started. ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

Yvette - Short film

Your girl needs your help next year will be 10 years since I debuted Yvette. I’m raising coins for a Yvette short film and I need people to share and donate as I build my team up. This will mean everything as I’m also starting my own production company with this. It would mean a lot if you would share and donate, this story changed my life, and they’re other survivors like Yvette that need to see this on screen!! #blackfilmmakers #blackfilm #yvetteplay #shortfilms #crowdfunder - https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/yvette by @uriisorbit

Huge congratulations to our long-term collaborator @uriisorbit and all the creative team, on the opening of Black Power Desk at @brxhousetheatre last week!

China Plate have been working with Steph Weller and her company @playwellprods to support Urielle, both on this show and her upcoming musical TRASH/finesse, which we are looking to make in 2026.

Black Power Desk is a powerful reimagining and exploration of what it means to love and fight for freedom, written by Urielle Klein-Mekongo, Gerel Falconer and Renell Shaw, directed by Gbolahan Obisesan and dramaturg by Gail Babb. It is playing at @brxhousetheatre until 28th September, followed by performances at @warwickarts (14 October), @the_lowry (16-18 October) and @brumhippodrome (22-25 October). Ā

It's a moving story of sisters, Celia and Dina, who need to reconnect for the sake of their community. But will the fight for their community be worth the damage to their sisterhood? Inspired by the historicĀ Mangrove Nine TrialĀ andĀ other influential Black British activists.

Don’t miss your opportunity to see this brilliant original, new musical!

A new sound system culture-fuelled musical exploring the 1970s Black power movement in London, and the secret police unit that tried to crush it, premieres next week šŸ”Š

Black Power Desk features a musical composition by Ivor Novello award winner Renell Shaw and lyrics by playwright Urielle Klein-Mekongo and artist Gerel Falconer. It will run from 1st to 28th September at Brixton House before touring to Warwick Arts Centre, Lowry and Birmingham Hippodrome in October. It exposes Scotland Yard’s covert Black Power Desk, a secret unit set up in 1968 to infiltrate and disrupt Black activist groups like the Black Panthers and the Black Unity and Freedom Party, a chapter of British history that still remains little known today.

Co-created with Playwell Productions, the show forms part of the Brixton House Uprising Festival, which commemorates and reflects on 40 years since the 1985 Brixton Uprising. It is the brainchild of Urielle Klein-Mekongo, who collaborated on it Falconer. Blending hip-hop, reggae, R&B, lover’s rock, soul and ska, its plot follows sisters Celia and Dina (Rochelle Rose and Veronica Carabei) as they navigate family tensions and the underhand operations of the Black Power Desk. It has been directed by Gbolahan Obisesan.

For DJ Mag, @anuki008 spoke to Klein-Mekongo, Shaw, Falconer and Brixton House chair Levi Roots about the Black history and music at the heart of this project.
