Private aviation is about more to me than brokering jets. It’s about mastering the art of time well spent and getting to help my clients do the same. After 5 years in the field, I feel very fortunate to call Aspen the place where I live and work. I have met so many wonderful clients here and worldwide and I look forward to connecting with many more. taken in Aspen, Colorado by @urjetbroker

I don’t talk about my journey with Lyme disease often. It doesn’t define me, but it’s a big part of my story.

Two years ago today, I finally healed from the grips of Lyme. After a lifetime of symptoms and 3 years of being almost debilitated, I finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel.

Amongst severe insomnia, fatigue, weight loss, and hair loss my worst battle was with vertigo. I couldn’t fly on a plane anymore, be in a car at high speeds, or even be high up in a building without derailing panic attacks. Lyme had damaged my vestibular nerves—the nerves responsible for telling your brain where you are in space. Tilting my head toward the sky or lying flat to sleep would send me spinning on a roller coaster I couldn’t get off. I would lay there in the middle of the night gripping the sheets, wondering if I would ever be the same.

I left every doctor’s office with no answers. I did dry needling at the base of my skull and physical therapy to try to regenerate my nerves. I would stare at a sticky note on the wall across the room, trying to walk in a straight line toward it over and over again, month after month, but I continued to decline. I cut out all sugar, alcohol, gluten, and dairy, at one point ate only red meat. I would go into a deep meditative state. I envisioned myself healed, fulfilled, and whole with every part of my being, but every morning I would look in the mirror and see a shell of the person I was.

I questioned everything a person can question—I had to decide if I was going to live.

I dug as deep as I could within myself to find the strength and when it wasn’t enough, I dug deeper and deeper until I found a strength that wasn’t my own. I stepped into the unknown, and I surrendered to the universe. I allowed it to take me to places and introduce me to people who would inspire me to keep putting one foot in front of the other, each step leading me to a version of myself that had been waiting to meet me.

When I was finally diagnosed with Lyme, it was a relief I never knew if I would feel. I knew that if there was a diagnosis and treatment for what I was dealing with, I could heal.
