I really enjoy client facing. I enjoy listening to business problems and discovering where their solutions lie.

I once sat with Angeline who expressed her frustrations with ERPNext – she said it was the worst Enterprise Resource Planning software that she's ever used. She sighted rigidity, inability to modify, and difficulty in getting assistance from the tech team that was based all the way in India, forming the nucleus of all her frustration.

You see, ERPNext is a free and open-source enterprise resource planning software but it's designed for growing teams that have internal IT or tech departments, whereas a software like Odoo is best suited for teams that do not have internal tech capabilities. Her organisation would have been better served by Odoo because it's suited for people with no tech background, whereas ERPNext serves teams with python expertise incredibly well.

These differences should have been unearthed by the sales team, that's why I put emphasise that when selling software to teams or organisations, you have to involve three stakeholders:
1. Head of Department, HoD
2. The user(s)
3. The one who pays for it AKA the decision-maker – they all need to be aware of the problem, and the solution.

ERPNext is not bad software (not at all) it just wasn't the right solution for her company's needs. The seller should have been in a position to understand that a lot better, but because a lot of sales teams are looking to meet their next sale, some nuance gets thrown out the window.

Look, I won't be able to sell software to all of you. However, what I can promise is to listen, to understand, and to match the best solution possible to you and your organisation.

Software buying is a time-involving process for both the seller and the buyer, and all stakeholders need to be involved in the conversation from the jump in order to land at the right fit and get the right solution, ensuring you don't misspend your time and money.
So don't look at how many discovery calls you have to take, or how many questions you have to answer when shopping for software. Instead, look at the amount of time and money that you'll waste IF you buy the wrong one.

Lens of Masculinity – it was uplifting to discuss men's mental health, how it's portrayed in 🇰🇪 Kenyan films like 'Reflections of Him' and 'Hollow' and of course have discourse on it, with the men sharing their experiences with it all. 🫂

I especially loved how the women in the room were so supportive of the men in their lives - from brothers to boyfriends - because they understand that a strong and healthy man is fundamental to a functional society.

S/o to the partners @uradi_films @rac_nairobiparklands @hugs.co.ke @incisestudios who continue to create experiences that are inclusive and allow important conversations to take place, especially through stories.

@moviezetu_ke and the Rotaract Club of Parklands hosted a wine and movie night and it was epic. We got to drink wines from Italy and SA while watching and discussing Kenyan short films, and even had the privilege of having QnAs with their directors.
