Jay and I first trained together in person a year ago, and since before Miss Universe New Zealand we’ve been training virtually multiple times a week. So getting four days in person together here in Australia felt really special 👠🤍

I’m so grateful for every minute of it. Jay has been such a huge part of this journey, always pushing me, believing in me, challenging me and always only a message away.

Four days of training, plenty of late nights, and of course we had to end one of them at Yo-Chi, my favourite frozen yoghurt spot. 🍦 taken in Sydney, Australia by @urquinajairo

We're 300m into the race, I'm in 3rd, and my teammate is in 1st when I see him look back and slow down until I was able to catch up to him. That's what happened when Hamish thought it was more important to pace me to a massive PB than to actually win the race, something he could've easily done.

Not only did I run a PB, but I lowered my 5km by 1 minute and 18 seconds... having run 17:45 in September 2025, the goal was to get as close to 17:00 as possible, but we crossed the line in 16:27 🤯.

Getting 3rd place was pretty cool, running a PB was f*cking amazing, but my favourite part was getting to do this next to one of my best friends and someone who pushed me to do things not even I thought were possible.
