Recently, I went to San Juan Island in Washington and found these delicately drawn and nostalgic greeting cards by @laurastoddartillustrator at a local bookstore! There’s something so magical about them! ✨ by @ursulasfilms

I’ve always loved friendship.

When I was a kid, my mom would make comments about how I cared too much and did too much.

She’ll tell you a story about coming over to my apartment one day only to find out I’d put up a wall to enclose the dining room area so @melissataylorross could move in after her housing situation had changed suddenly.

There is enormous power in friendship that you can’t find anywhere else. The power to become better, to be seen as you really are, to be supported with no strings attached and to be loved that same way. It doesn’t compare to spouses, children, parents or anyone else (no matter how great those relationships are). There’s nothing quite like having a truly wonderful friend.

To the old friends who know where all the bodies are buried, the new friends to bury more, to the family friends that always come through, the film friends who share a passion for all things cinema that everyone else seems to get annoyed at, the mom friends with our mutual experience of the crazy beast that is parenthood while helping each other to be our best selves so we can just make it through the damn day with minimal casualties(!), to the friends I have lost and the friends I haven’t met yet… I am so grateful for you and love you so much.

Let’s keep making it great together. 😊
