I finally wore the crown. Ignited for my first time stepping onto the @ursusstage, at my 5th @wickedwoodsmusicfestival. 🔥

Performance art is more than spectacle. At its best, every moment on stage is built by a team of people who collaborate, trust each other, and pour themselves into something meant to be shared. It carries human emotion and connection without a single word, and it’s part of what turns a festival from a lineup into a community.

I had this crown built almost 4 years ago, intending to finish it and wear it at Wicked Woods one day. It was forged from a pair of fire fans I once loved and used often before becoming Elektra, and I retired them and sacrificed them to become this headpiece as my path shifted toward Elektric Collective. In 2023 it became a living floral crown for Bass Coast’s Avant Garden theme, then sat on my shelf for another 3 years waiting for me to finish it.

A week before Wicked Woods, I looked at it on the shelf and felt the call: it’s time. It’s still not complete to my original vision, but it’s a functional masterpiece that holds meaning exactly as it is. I almost left it behind, so a massive thank you to @aurora_eleda for grabbing it and bringing it after I’d left, and to @pb_aerials and @dabelieva (who each also took these clips) for helping me strip it down to it’s original form and prep it in the hours before showtime.

This year, Elektric Collective was booked to perform a fire show for one of the festival’s headliners, planned as a live recording. Unfortunately it didn’t work out, so we gave that fire to @yetzofficial, a close friend of the collective who has always championed performance art and is grateful every time we share it. In the end our performances went even better than I could have imagined.

When you’re in a position of power, what you choose to share and who you lift up matters. Being intentional about that is a responsibility, and it’s one I want to keep taking seriously as an artist and a leader. To anyone holding a microphone, a stage, or a spotlight: I hope we all learn to use that power with purpose.
