MANASLU No o2

Alene men glad.

I’m so sorry to share this….The Good Luck hotel in Dingboche has burned to the ground 🥺
In just 10 -15 min it was all on fire.
What seems to have started in the kitchen developed fast to something we could not control…I’m so sorry for that

We tried…we tried our best to safe lives and get everyone out of the smoke but now everything is lost.

We did find the fire hose but no pressure to get the water running….

A very sad day for this small community

The Ultimate Adventure in Oceania”
Carstensz Pyamid
Rising 4,884 meters above the Indonesian jungle, Carstensz Pyramid is a mountain of extremes. While it stands as the lowest of the Seven Summits, it remains the ultimate crown of Austral-Oceania. Known natively as Puncak Jaya (“Victory Mountain”), this formidable peak is widely considered as one of the more technically challenging climbs of all the Seven Summits.
Your expedition begins with a thrilling helicopter flight directly into Base Camp, soaring over the dense, unforgiving rainforests of Papua. This bypasses weeks of brutal jungle trekking, dropping you straight into the heart of the action. However, the real battle begins at touchdown: hours of intense, vertical rock climbing secured by fixed ropes. For those with the endurance to conquer it, the reward is unmatched—a breathtaking summit panorama that unveils two oceans at once, followed by a swift helicopter flight back to civilization

NEPAL IS CALLING

Sone it’s time for another season and expedition in the beautiful mountains of nepal.
We are heading to the Solu Khumbu - better known as The Everest valley.

Even though my heart is bleeding 💔 because of the devastating floods and the massive consequences it has caused….the best way to help the Nepali people and a nation on its knees…is actually to go there. Show up and be present. Nepal doesn’t need us to be sorry…they don’t need us to post more pictures….they need us to step up and help were it’s really making an impact. I believe we need to put more effort and focus on the climate changes. More focus on how to prevent something like this happening over and over again in Nepal and other countries like Nepal. With better communication, logistics, education and awareness. Then we have a chance to avoid similar situations in the future 🙏🏻

For me this area is like a second home and I’m always looking forward to see seeing old friends and “family “ along the way up and into the mountains

This season is separated into two different parts/exp. Both are parts of developing skills and experience for the next very big projects ⛰️

Step 1) Lobuche East ( 6050m ) ⛰️
Step 2) Island Peak ( 6189m) + my all time favourite Ama Dablam ( 6812m)

It all starts in October ⚡️

Follow on if you like

They say it’s just a mountain…

Maybe it is.

A mountain of rock, ice, snow and wind. Rising higher than any other place on Earth.
Mount Everest

But after more than 25 years in the mountains, I have learned that mountains are never just mountains.

Everest has challenged me.
It has humbled me.
It has frightened me.
It has taken me to places of extraordinary beauty — and to moments where every step demanded everything I had - climbing without the use of supplemental oxygen. And I have fulfilled others dream of standing on the summit. Clients

I have stood on its summit three times.

And still, every time I look up at Everest, I feel something I cannot quite put into words.

Perhaps that is what keeps drawing me back.

Not the summit itself - cause one time was all I dreamed about

But for everything that happens on the way.

The silence.
The uncertainty.
The friendships.
The suffering.
The laughter.
The sunrise above the clouds.
And those rare moments when you realise just how small you are — and how incredibly fortunate you are to be there.

Everest has given me memories I will carry for the rest of my life.

And after all these years, I still look at that mountain with the same respect, curiosity and fascination as I did when I first dreamed of climbing it.

Because some mountains you climb.
And some mountains become a part of who you are.

Everest is both.

The news from Broad Peak has left a silence that reaches far beyond the Karakoram. Nine climbers have now been located, and every effort will be made to bring them home.

For many, this is another tragic headline.

For me, it is deeply personal.

Among those who are missing is people I knew. Men I shared mountains, conversations, laughter, hardship, and unforgettable moments with. They were not only exceptional climbers—they were exceptional human beings. Friends

The world often celebrates those who stand on the summit. Clients.

But those of us who live and work in the mountains know that the greatest strength is often found in the people quietly carrying the weight of everyone else’s dream. The guides.

The Sherpas and Nepali mountain guides have given so much to our community. Their courage, humility, loyalty, and willingness to place others before themselves have inspired generations of climbers.

Today, our community is grieving.

My heart is with every family waiting to bring their loved one home… every friend trying to make sense of an unbearable loss… every teammate carrying memories that will never fade… and every rescuer who continues their work in one of the harshest environments on Earth.

The mountains have given me some of the greatest moments of my life.

They have also taught me the hardest lesson of all.

No summit, no record, and no dream will ever be more valuable than the people we share the journey with.

Rest peacefully, my friends.

You will not be remembered only for the mountains you climbed, but for the lives you touched, the kindness you carried, and the legacy you leave behind.

The mountains will always stand.

But today… they feel a little quieter.

💔

Super excited for the next big expedition in preparation for Everest 💪🏔️

Me and @urth_adventures will be heading to Nepal later this year to attempt to climb Ama Dablam. The “Matterhorn of the Himalayas”, arguably the most beautiful mountain in the Himalayas, if not the world.

This epic challenge is going to push me to the limits.

Follow @torinliver for the journey 🇳🇵🏔️🤝 by @urth_adventures

Stay tuned
Jakob Urth
