Posted @withregram • @presidentfolt Today’s decision by the Supreme Court prohibiting holistic, race-conscious admissions practices is very disappointing.

USC has long understood that excellence and diversity are inextricably intertwined. We educate innovative, thoughtful students from across the globe, who become leaders in every field. Each of our students, faculty and staff has earned a place here and contributes to creating one of the most stimulating and creative educational communities in the world.

This decision will not impact our commitment to creating a campus that is welcoming, diverse, and inclusive to talented individuals from every background. USC provides an outstanding learning community where differing backgrounds and points of view are embraced, where ideas collide, beliefs are challenged and innovation thrives.

We will not go backward. by @usc_colt

Join us next week to celebrate the French translation of Viet Nguyen's 2021 novel "The Committed!"

In this follow-up to his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel "The Sympathizer," we follow Nguyen's narrator to Paris in the 1980s. This conversation with the author, led by Professors Lydie Moudileno (French, Comparative Literature, and American Studies and Ethnicity) and Panivong Norindr (French and Comparative Literature), will be the opportunity to discuss both this new transnational context as well as issues of migration, language, and translation.

Hope to see you there! 🔗 in bio by @usc_colt

Mlondi Zondi (he/him) will join the Department of Comparative Literature in Fall 2022! 🎉

Dr. Zondi received his PhD at Northwestern University (2020) in Performance Studies, with certificates in African Studies, Critical Theory, and Gender & Sexuality Studies. Prior to his doctoral work, Dr. Zondi completed an M.F.A. in Dance Studies (2014) at UC Irvine as a Fulbright scholar. His research interests include Black critical theory, visual art and culture, performance theory, and non-representational aesthetics. His book manuscript, "Unmournable Void: Contemporary Black Aesthetics and the Ends of Reconciliation," engages with choreographic and multi-media visual arts who think about the ways violent artifacts of the South African apartheid regime impact the post-apartheid era. His work has been published ASAP/Journal and The Drama Review.
