Thank you to everyone who came out to our fifth and final meeting last night!

Our mini speaker was the Aspiring Pre-Health Student Mentoring Initiative (APSMI)! They shared how their organization helps mentor and support high school students who are interested in pursuing healthcare careers. APSMI works to make the path to becoming a healthcare professional more transparent by giving students insight into what it means to be a pre-health student in college, answering questions, offering guidance, and connecting them with opportunities to get involved in their communities early on. It was inspiring to hear about the impact they are making by working with high schools in Columbia and the surrounding areas!

Our main speakers were current Tri Beta members who are graduating this year! They gave advice based on their experiences during their time here at the University of South Carolina, sharing lessons they learned, tips for making the most of college, and guidance for students interested in research, leadership, and preparing for their future careers. It was so helpful hearing from members who have been in our shoes and are now getting ready for their next steps!

Thank you all for such an amazing semester and year! We hope everyone has a great summer, we wish all of our graduating seniors the best in their next chapter, and we can’t wait to see everyone back together in August! by @usctribeta

Yesterday Tri Beta had such a fun time at our tote bag painting table for Relay for Life! It was so great getting creative together while supporting such an important cause. Thank you to everyone who came out and made the event so special! by @usctribeta

Thank you to everyone who came out to our fourth meeting last night!

Our mini speaker was Musical Memories! She talked about how music can help people with dementia by slowing it down and helping with memory and thinking. She also shared ways we can get involved, like volunteering to hang out with patients and doing silent discos with them once or twice a week!

Our main speakers were Madison Grace Lankford, an occupational therapist, and Tyla Stuckey, a speech language pathologist Madison talked about how she works with kids to help them learn everyday things like eating, getting ready, taking care of themselves, and playing. Tyla talked about how she works with patients who are mostly nonverbal and helps them reach their own communication goals through speaking or signing. She also showed videos of her patients and the games she uses to help them improve. They also talked about how they work together with some patients when they need both types of help. At the end, they played games with us, did trivia, and gave out prizes!

Two busy and fun days for Tri Beta! Yesterday we got our hands dirty with Sustainable Carolina Gardens, helping clean up and give back to our campus. Today we switched gears with a Question Ball social event, getting to know each other one question at a time. The perfect mix of service and social events! by @usctribeta
