Meet Dawn Fishback, PA-C! Before shaping history at Keck, Dawn was balancing modeling auditions with UCLA exams. When her agent demanded she choose between Hollywood and medicine, Dawn didn’t hesitate, she chose her passion for helping others.

But six months into PA school, life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma brain tumor. Following a successful surgery, Dawn turned that personal crisis into her greatest superpower: profound empathy for her patients.

Hired in 1992 as the first-ever PA at Keck Medical Center, Dawn literally helped write the playbook for PAs at Keck. What was once a start working alongside Dr. Steven Giannotta (the same doctor who operated on her tumor), has now expanded far beyond patient care:

🩺 Built and managed the Keck PA Shadowing Program with USC Dornsife Office of Pre-Health Advising

📚 Taught future medical leaders at the Primary Care Physician Assistant Program at USC

🤝 Mentors incoming hires, students, and prospective PAs across the health system

Decades later, Dawn is still championing our PA team and putting patients first every single day. 💛
