Every one of those cups is a real request. The espresso on its own. The one without milk. The half-size. The name spelled their way.
None of it is unreasonable — that’s the part people miss. A client asking for stems is asking for something completely normal. It’s just that “completely normal” means making the same coffee nine times.
What’s the strangest delivery request you’ve had? Mine was a version with the reverb removed but the delay left in.

I timed it once, which was a mistake.
An hour a song — and the song was already finished. An hour of bouncing, renaming, foldering, and going back through to check I hadn’t missed a stem.
A ten-song album is a full working day of that. On work I’d already done.
How long does delivery actually take you? I don’t think anyone’s counted.

The desk is my actual desk. The plate is my actual dinner from that night. None of this was set dressing.
I wrote music for years and the part that burned me out was never the writing — it was everything after. So I spent the last year building the thing I wanted to exist instead.
Ten songs delivered last week. Over 80 files. Under two hours, and I was in the room for about ten minutes of it.

Ten songs. Over 80 files. Full Pre-Master and stems every track.

That delivery is my whole weekend. Not writing — writing is the fun part. The weekend goes to bouncing one file at a time, renaming every one of them to the client’s spec, building the folders, then going back through to check I didn’t miss a stem.

This time I hit render and cleaned my house.

Under two hours, start to finish. I was in the room for about ten minutes of it.

That’s the whole reason Boing exists. The music was never the slow part.

Every client wants the same song five different ways. Full mix, Alternate mixes, instrumental, and stems.
So you bounce. Then mute the vocal and bounce again. Then solo eight groups and bounce those. Then you’re in Finder renaming files at 1am.

most producers will lose hours this week to something that isn’t making music.
not because they’re slow.
not because they don’t care.
because nobody automated the part everyone hates.
the mix takes four hours. the delivery — bouncing stems, printing the instrumental, renaming 30 files to the client’s spec, checking peaks, zipping it up — takes another one. same session. completely different kind of work.
i point Boing at my session in Ableton, Logic, or Pro Tools, pick a spec, hit render. full mix, instrumental, stems, all named and peak-safe, packaged and ready to send. minutes, not hours.
the tool exists. most producers just don’t know it yet.
