Good evening. Seconds ago, our star just released another *major* X8.3 flare from Region 4366! Major x-ray flux associated with this event and a coronal mass ejection (CME) is inbound. The proton stream will arrive in about two days, but the electromagnetic ejection is hitting us now. We are currently experiencing a radio blackout, but that is expected to get worse. Area of impact centered on sub-solar point on the sunlit side of Earth. Extent of blackout of HF (high frequency) radio communication dependent upon current X-ray Flux intensity. Expect power grid disruptions, especially poleward of 60° northern geomagnetic latitude. We will see major satellite operation disruptions, the degradation of low earth orbit satellites, induced currents, radio and communication blackouts, and increased solar forcing causing rapid storm intensification, increased earthquake and volcanic activity. More information as our instruments update.

Good morning again! As I predicted about an hour ago, our star just released another flare from region 4366. We knew there was a 5% chance of an X-class event, and we just got one. Our Sun just emitted an X1 flare from the incoming and growing region 4366. It is far too early to know the details of the coronal mass associated with this ejection; instruments are still updating. Eyes on LASCO and NASA’s ENLIL Spiral. This will be the most earth-directed of the flares from this region yet, and should be arriving in the next two days. Meanwhile, we are still experiencing an R2 radio blackout from flares earlier this weekend.

Our local space weather is about to get spicy. Eyes open by @username.scott

Good morning. Two minutes ago (UTC 1021) sunspot region 4366 just issued a strong M6.64 flare after releasing smaller flares earlier. Region 4366 consists of seven sunspots and we knew it would be trouble since it crested the incoming solar limb. It’s growing in magnetic complexity with well-developed cores, and I expect more flares from this region as it moves towards center disk, putting earth in its direct line of fire. We are currently experiencing an R2 level radio blackout. The presence and size of any ejection (CME) associated with this event won’t be known until NASA’s ENLIL Spiral updates. Current flare probability is 99% for a C-class flare, 35% for another M-class flare, and a 5% chance of an X-class flare event.

Currently, the Solar Wind Plasma Speed is 388.1 km/s with a Density of 2.6 prot/cm^3. Eyes open by @username.scott

Good afternoon. About 20 minutes ago our star released an X-Class flare in our direction, possibly from Region 4299 but it is too early to tell as we await updates from SOHO’s LASCO instrument. The previously active region, 4343, has exited center disc and is headed for the outgoing limb. It’s too early to know if a CME is associated with this X-Class event as we await updates from NASA's ENLIL Spiral. Currently, space weather conditions are unfavorable for earth with our interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) oriented strongly southward.

Currently, our solar wind speed is 561.5 km/s with a Density of
0.1 prot/cm3. Eyes open. by @username.scott

Good morning. Our star has been hyperactive the last 72 hours. ABOVE: short video of yesterday’s X5 halo eruption and screenshot of my Solar Monitor at the time. We’ve seen three X-class flares, solar windspeeds in excess of 700 km/s, our IMF Bz swung south of -20 nT and our K-index reached the 9 threshold! Below are the major events associated with yesterday’s X-flare and the associated warnings:

Beginning 2025 Nov 12 0346 UTC: Geomagnetic K-index of 8, 9- Threshold Reached: Potential Impacts: Area of impact primarily poleward of 45 degrees Geomagnetic Latitude. Induced Currents and Possible widespread voltage control problems and some protective systems may mistakenly trip out key assets from the power grid. Induced pipeline currents intensify. Spacecraft Systems may experience surface charging; increased drag on low earth orbit satellites, and tracking and orientation problems may occur. Navigation - Satellite navigation (GPS) may be degraded or inoperable for hours. Radio - HF (high frequency) radio propagation sporadic or blacked out. The aurora borealis will be visible even in the Southern US.

Beginning 2025 Nov 12 0502 UTC: Electron 2MeV Integral Flux exceeded 1000pfu which will cause Satellite systems to experience significant charging resulting in increased risk to the systems. This has the potential to disrupt or destroy entire satellites.

Bad day for a spacewalk, but a great night to enjoy the aurora borealis all the way down to Chile. Get away from the city lights and use your iPhone because it can see light beyond the visual spectrum of your eyes. Happy viewing and, as always, eyes open! by @username.scott

Good morning. Just minutes ago, our star emitted the X-ray signature of a major Solar Flare happening right now! As I type this, it is registering X-5 and rising. This flare is coming from region 4274 shown in the image above. This is the third X-class flare from this region in 72 hours. This follows an M-1.5 flare issued two hours ago.

Currently, our interplanetary magnetic field is favorable at IMF Bz = 5 nT north but that will be changing any minute. The solar wind speed is currently 433.1 km/s at a Density of 1.9 prot/cm^3. A strong R3 radio blackout is in progress. Eyes open. by @username.scott

Strong M 6.45 Flare release just a couple of minutes ago. Our IMF is strongly oriented north, so the incoming proton stream will mostly be deflected. by @username.scott
