We love welcoming back alumni to the IME community and they are always part of our IME family! It was so beautiful to have Dr. Eghosa Obaizamomwan-Hamilton @teach.love_ and Dr. Gertrude Jenkins @your_favorite_damn_teacher - who both graduated in 2024 - back at the SOE for an event to launch Dr. Eghosa‘s new book “Articulations: A radical methodology for Black pedagogy” published by Routledge earlier this year. An engaging night for our participants here in person and online!

If you missed the event and want to get a copy of this powerful book on Dr. Eghosa’s homegrown methodology she used in her dissertation and is now disseminating worldwide through the book, see Dr. Bajaj or Gaby (sliding scale $25-50, proceeds go to the Paulo Freire scholarship). by @usfcasoe

#LinkInBio Please join the USF Teacher Education Department and the Center for Humanizing Education (C-HER) for this timely conversation with Dr. Farima Pour-Khorshid and Tatiana Chaterji, educator, organizer, and author of Everyday Restorative Justice: Moving From Crisis Response to Positive School Culture. Amidst today’s uncertainty and social unrest, Tatiana’s book offers teachers and students hope in the underlying principles of restorative justice that challenge us to be our best selves. Through curricular sequences, lesson plans, case studies, and narrative examples, she maps the terrain for learning and practicing empathy, studying models of repair and accountability, and creating conditions for trust and vulnerability.

While much of restorative justice in schools is responsive to incidents that have already occurred, her work argues for robust prevention and culture-building through students’ personal and conceptual exploration of pain, loss, oppression, and other emotionally charged topics. Her book carries lessons from restorative justice in high-level harm, such as victim-offender dialogue, to the classroom through exercises that foster tenderness, self-reflection, and skillful attention to how to “make it right.” The text includes classroom-tested strategies and activities that the author developed over 15 years working in schools, youth programs, prisons, probation, and juvenile detention facilities.

This event is open to all and will be livestreamed. To access the livestream, please RSVP at https://bit.ly/RJUSFCA or scan the QR Code on the flyer. *song by @alphabetrockers ✊🏾🙌🏾 taken in University of San Francisco by @usfcasoe
