Sometimes I think we forget why we started drawing in the first place.

It is not always about being the best in the group.
It is not about proving that we are good enough.
And it is not about impressing the people around us.

Your drawing is simply a reflection of what you saw, what you noticed, and what you were capable of putting on paper that day.

And that is enough.

If you want to improve, keep practicing. Observe more. Look at other people's work, not to feel less than them, but to learn something from them. Let their way of seeing open your eyes to something you haven't noticed before.

Because improvement doesn't happen overnight.

Especially when we only meet once a week, draw for a couple of hours, and then go back to our everyday lives. Progress takes time. It takes practice, curiosity, patience, and most importantly, the willingness to keep going.

So I hope we learn to embrace our imperfections.

Love the drawing you made today because it is yours.

Love the way your hand moved across the paper.
Love the things you noticed.
Love the little mistakes you made.
Love the things you haven't figured out yet.

Because the moment you put that pencil, pen, or brush on the paper, you are already connecting with yourself and with the world around you.

And maybe that is what drawing is really about.

Not becoming better than someone else.

But becoming a little more connected to yourself every time you draw. by @uskmariathe

@urbansketchersdoha 61st Sketch Meetup!
61 meetups of finding new places, gathering people, sharing our sketches, and creating a space where everyone can simply come, draw, learn, and connect.

As the founder and organizer of this community, every meetup means finding a location, making arrangements, bringing people together, and making it happen.

And here we are… 61 meetups later. 🤍
