How does a D3 program in Portland, Maine, recruit athletes from across Canada and the US?

We asked Coach Rob Whitten of @usm_trackandxc what he looks at first in a recruit, what belongs in your first message, and why recruits give Southern Maine a second look.

His advice: lead with your grades, keep it short, and keep replying.

We're just about 48 hours away from Huskies' Athletics' Day of Giving! Which team will get the most unique individual donors? Which team will have the most alumni donors? @usm_trackandxc knows a thing or two about winning. Since the Little East begin sponsoring championships in 1998, the Huskies' men's programs for cross country, indoor & outdoor track and field have a combined 34 Little East Conference titles, while the women's cross country, indoor & outdoor track and field programs have 56 combined titles. Both programs have a generous donor match challenge going on as well! Give early at the link in our bio! by @usm_trackandxc
