At Ușul, we attend to health at its deepest roots, seeking the causes beneath the surface rather than shutting down symptoms.

We embrace the rhythms of nourishment, the wisdom of nature, and the subtle guidance of the body itself, we create space for balance, resilience, and vitality to emerge from within.

Every person’s health is unique, and so is our approach—attentive, thoughtful, and gentle.

Naturopathy: a return to stability

A way of caring for health that looks at the whole system—
not only the diagnosis, but what influences the body every day:
sleep, digestion, stress, energy, mood, menstrual cycle, recovery.

Because health is not only the absence of disease.
It is also the strength of your adaptive capacity—
how well you respond, recover, and return to baseline.

In practice, we use a few core modalities:
• nutrition and lifestyle strategy
• stress regulation + breathwork
• herbal medicine, when appropriate
• targeted micronutrients
• body-based techniques
• and referrals when specialized care is required

This work is not loud.
It is precise.
It is consistent.

Reduce inputs • Restore capacity • Support recovery
Save this post—so you have a simple definition when someone asks, “what is naturopathy?”

Usul. Slow care. Deep support.
This is how we work.

We listen first.
We look for patterns.
We choose priorities—gently.

A short introduction to align.
A longer foundation session to understand the full picture.
Then follow-up, to adjust & to assess based on your body, your real life.

A customized plan you can live with.
Refined over time.

Complementary support, alongside medical care

Your body still makes collagen. It’s just missing the parts.

Collagen is three amino acids woven into a rope (glycine, proline and hydroxyproline ) about a third of all the protein you’re made of.

To build it you need all five: the amino acids for raw material, vitamin C to switch production on, silica to build, vitamin A to protect it, copper to lock it in.

For skin, that’s the list. For joints, add movement, collagen builds where the body is used.

A note on vitamin A: liver is the richest source but very concentrated, and not advised in high amounts in pregnancy. Egg yolks and butter are the everyday option.

Before reaching for a supplement, check the color range on your plate first.

Green foods carry magnesium and folate, which show up again and again in research on muscle cramps, restless nights, and low mood. Red foods carry lycopene and nitrates, both shown to lower blood pressure in real trials. Orange and yellow foods carry carotenoids that seem to switch on your cells’ energy production, though most of that evidence is still cell and animal research, not yet proven the same way in humans.

None of this replaces bloodwork or a proper consult. But if you’re tired, foggy, or a little off, and it’s hard to remember the last time a full range of color made it onto the plate, that’s usually the first place to look. by @usul.roots

We’ve been wanting to put this together for a while.

Some of the clients we work with are vegan or vegetarian, and we noticed how much value there is in understanding exactly what your plate is giving you, and what it might not be. This carousel is a small, practical way to get your micronutrients and minerals in order.

You’ll notice B12 isn’t on here. That one felt obvious to leave out: it’s made by bacteria, the same kind found in soil, but it’s an animal’s digestive system that actually concentrates it into a form we can absorb. Animal products remain the most direct source.

This isn’t a complete guide, there’s more to learn beyond these five. But it’s a strong starting point if you’re vegetarian and want to understand your plate better.

Something we noticed: the architects who most calm a room never studied the nervous system. They just built by instinct, and the instinct held up.

Zumthor knew a room is felt before it’s seen. The texture of what you touch (stone, timber, worn linen) reaches the body before the mind interprets the space.

Sinan knew the body needs a transition. His hammams never move you from cold to hot in one step. It’s the staging, not the heat, that shifts you toward rest.

Correa knew restraint mattered. His courtyards frame the sky instead of opening onto it fully. A partial view seems to do more for the nervous system than an unobstructed one.

Small enough to try at home: one material worth touching, light that shifts gradually instead of all at once, a window that frames rather than exposes. by @usul.roots

Embodiment is more than a psychological practice, it is part of how we care for our health.

Our bodies are constantly communicating through hunger, fatigue, tension, pleasure, discomfort and emotion.
Interoception is our ability to perceive and understand these internal signals.

The more we listen, the earlier we can recognize what our body may need.

Rest, Nourishment, Movement, Connection, Boundaries.

Chronic stress can influence digestion, cardiovascular regulation and many physiological processes.

Learning to inhabit the body may help us respond to our needs before reaching exhaustion or overwhelm.

Embodiment is not about performing, it is about replacing disconnection with awareness, judgment with curiosity, and suppression with expression.

Not medical advice just what I reach for first. 🌿

4 plants, 4 mechanisms. It’s not about avoiding medicine it’s about understanding the trade-offs.

For migraines, NSAIDs block the enzyme that protects your gut lining , fine occasionally, but worth knowing if you reach for them often.
For nausea, OTC antiemetics can cause drowsiness or constipation; ginger works the same pathway without those side effects.
For muscle ache, most creams aren’t formulated minimally and can irritate sensitive skin.
For cramps, this isn’t instead of seeing someone if your pain is severe , it’s what I reach for first when it’s manageable.

Use these plants as a first step, track patterns, see a professional if symptoms persist or worsen.

**Don’t:apply wintergreen undiluted or orally, or treat severe/recurring symptoms as « just normal. »**

**Pregnancy/breastfeeding note: feverfew, wintergreen, and yarrow should all be avoided if pregnant or breastfeeding, ginger is generally fine at food-level doses, but check with your doctor for higher amounts.**

Stress is not always visible.

Sometimes, it lives in what we suppress, what we avoid, and the parts of ourselves we no longer feel safe enough to express.

Shame, control, and emotional withdrawal can protect us for a time, but they can also deepen the distance between who we are and how we live.

Vulnerability is not exposing yourself to everyone.

It is the courage to be honest with yourself, to receive support, and to let trusted people see what is real.

Wellbeing is never only about food and lifestyle. It is also shaped by mental burden, spirituality, environment, relationships, and most importantly, connection.

Connection to your body, your soul, the divine, others, and the power of vulnerability.

Electrolytes are having a moment.

Before reaching for powders and flavoured drinks, it may be worth looking at the foods already on your plate.

Magnesium, potassium, calcium and sodium don’t only come from supplements. They are found in whole foods.

Electrolytes do work, whether they come from food, oral rehydration solutions, or hospital IV fluids when medically needed.

But in everyday nutrition, minerals rarely act alone.

Vitamin D supports calcium absorption.
Magnesium is involved in vitamin D metabolism.
Sodium and potassium work together to regulate fluid balance and cellular function.

This is where whole foods matter.

They provide minerals alongside protein, vitamins and other compounds that support the body as a whole.

The goal isn’t to fear supplements. It’s to remember that the foundation of mineral balance is often simpler than marketing suggests.

Food first. Supplements when needed.

Usul’s Guide to eating well in Paris 🌿

This is not a definitive list. It’s just where I eat when I don’t want to compromise.

These places have one thing in common: they work with the same producers, and they know them by name. Simple ingredients, not much transformation, nothing added. Places where you can actually trace what’s on your plate & where that makes a real difference in how it tastes and what it does to your body.

As a naturopath, I’m looking for kitchens that don’t sacrifice the quality of the ingredient for the look of the dish. Long fermentation, same-day fish, ancient grains that haven’t been hybridized into something unrecognizable.

Everyone has their own criteria, their own needs. This isn’t a ranking. It’s just an invitation to think differently about what you eat and who you trust to prepare it.
