Thank you to The Lowell Sun for covering yesterday's discussion at UTEC in support of Yes on Question 9.

We were honored to welcome Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, and the Yes on 9 for a Safe Massachusetts coalition for a conversation about gun violence prevention.

Most importantly, we were proud to hear from UTEC young adult Makayla Rivera, who spoke about losing her sister to gun violence and why she's determined to help make her community safer.

“Nobody should have to grieve, nobody should go through that,” Makayla shared.

Gun violence prevention has been central to UTEC's mission since our founding. We believe young adults who have experienced its impact firsthand deserve a voice in the decisions that affect their communities.

We're proud to support Yes on 9 and grateful to everyone helping keep this conversation moving forward.

A great night celebrating the people and partnerships that make Greater Lowell such a special community! 🧡

We were happy to host the Greater Lowell Community Foundation's annual Celebrate Giving event at UTEC last night! This year's theme, Community Building & Belonging, was all about bringing people together and making sure everyone feels welcome and connected.

The evening featured a great conversation with Eastern Bank Foundation President & CEO Turahn Dorsey and celebrated local leaders and organizations making a difference in our community.

It was also special to recognize the spirit of community connection behind the Steven Joncas Community Connector Award, named in honor of a longtime local leader who has helped bring people together.

A big thank-you to GLCF President & CEO Jay Linnehan and the entire GLCF team for bringing everyone together, and congratulations to all of this year's award and grant recipients!

We were thrilled to welcome Pamerson O. Ifill, Commissioner of the Massachusetts Probation Service, to this year’s New England Streetworker Conference!

Commissioner Ifill shared his journey, from growing up close to the justice system to becoming the first Black Commissioner in the agency’s history. His experience shapes how he sees second chances and the value of people who understand the communities they serve.

As a credible messenger in his own right for the field of probation nationally, the Commissioner's message meant a lot in a room full of Streetworkers and those on the front lines of community violence intervention work.

We are grateful for a Commissioner who values and champions the work of Streetworkers across the state 🙏
