Every student deserves to feel safe, supported, and respected in their schools and communities. Washington’s initiatives IL26-001 and IL26-638 raise important questions about protections for transgender students, access to school activities, and the safety and dignity of LGBTQIA+ youth. At UTOPIA Washington, we believe community safety means ensuring that all of our young people have the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive without discrimination. Our youth deserve safety. Our communities deserve dignity. Our futures deserve protection. Learn about what’s at stake, make an informed decision, and prepare to vote this November 3rd! Washington’s election is tomorrow, November 3rd! Every student deserves to feel safe, supported, and respected in their schools and communities. In the spirit of protecting all of our babies and letting all of our girls play sports without barriers, let us vote understanding that what we do affects seven generations before and after us. What we heal heals those who came before us, and what we heal gives permission to our descendants to do things differently than we did. Please vote knowing we are co-creating the world our babies deserve. 🤎 NO on I-001 and NO on I-638. 🗳️ The election ENDS November 3rd, but turn your ballot in before then! The absolute latest your ballot can be accepted is if it’s placed in a drop box by 8 p.m. on November 3rd. Share this with someone you love to let them know! by @utopia_wa
“I want to feel safe, but I don’t want others to feel unsafe just because of who they are. That’s just wrong.” Our youth are speaking up about the kind of world they want to grow up in, one where every young person can go to school, play sports, and be themselves without having to question whether they belong. Our youth program centers trans and gender-diverse young people while creating space for all young Pasifika people to feel seen, heard, and supported. Our young people are telling us that safety and inclusion can exist together. We need to listen to them. How are you going to vote this election? Vote No on 001 and 638 #youngpasifikavoices #protectQTPIyouth #protectallyouth #votewithalofa by @utopia_wa
“My safety doesn’t mean much if my sisters, including our Fa’afafine and trans classmates, aren’t safe, too.” Our youth teach us that standing up for one another matters, even if they aren’t the ones being targeted. Being a classmate and friend means speaking up, showing up, and refusing to stay silent when our peers are being targeted. Kids deserve to feel safe at school, be accepted for who they are, and grow up knowing they have people in their corner. Don’t just protect some of us. PROTECT ALL OF US! by @utopia_wa
“Protecting young people should never mean taking away another young person’s privacy, dignity, or right to belong.” Our Youth Program was created to center trans and gender-diverse young people while creating a space where all young Pasifika people can feel supported, connected to culture, and empowered to thrive. Our young people deserve to have access supportive schools and the freedom to participate in sports without fear of discrimination, humiliation, or invasive demands to prove who they are. When we talk about protecting our youth, that means ALL our youth. We cannot claim to protect children while putting trans and gender-diverse young people at risk. Every young person deserves to feel safe, seen, and valued for who they are. Vote! #protectTransYouth #nohateinwashington #voteno001&638 #utopiawashington by @utopia_wa
We are ONE week from the General Election! 🗳️ At UTOPIA Washington we believe every student deserves dignity, respect and to have the resources they need to thrive. These ballot initiatives, 001 & 638, are a direct attack on students, women & girls. We know that an attack on any of us is an attack on all of us and that is why we are urging our community to educate yourselves on these two initiatives on the election ballot. Do you want to protect students? Vote No! #nohateinwa #utopiawashington #qtpi #001&638 by @utopia_wa
