Thanks Tobi, for the fun I had tinkering with this.

My thoughts on it were as follows:

Canoon! is more of a medieval weapon. The British were also known for their ships with cannons. Therefore, I chose this style with ulean pipes, strings, bodhrán, etc.
Ulean pipes also have a rather military character. And there's something cheeky about them. A sound full of adventure, exploration, and nature lovers. Just like the protagonist of the game.

I kept the strings and their playing style as background music rather subdued, since you don't want to hear complicated runs the whole time you're playing.

Part 1: Introduction of Canoon!
At the beginning, he's still hidden in the upper half of his egg. Therefore, I chose a slightly muffled sound. -> I used a filter on the master to cut the high frequencies. As soon as he's completely free of the eggshell, the filter opens and a ping sounds.

Part 2: The Battle
The bodhrán is meant to create tension here. As soon as the enemy appears on screen, a sound emanates from the direction of the robot (right). The sound pans with the robot towards the center of the screen. The robot is rather slow-moving, but assertive and aggressive. Hence the plug-like synthetic sound (U-He Zebra Legacy preset) of the robot. To represent the battle as a sound layer, I've added a background pulse. When the battle is won, a lur horn sounds. And collecting items is accompanied by a metallic wind chime.

Part 3: Entering the Cave/Tree

A different musical motif, but fundamentally similar to the first parts. The bodhrán plays a heartbeat motif. A ping opens the door. In the dark part of the cave, the lower midrange frequencies are also made slightly louder, reflecting the rather dark character of the area.

Part 4: In the Main Area/Home of Canoon!
First, a cello plays the main character's melody. A ping sounds when the item is collected. As the character moves towards another important point, another layer is added: Daiko drums create tension that is released when the newly learned ability is collected and another ping sounds. (I assume these are longer jumps.)
In the "Whispy Heights" area, Canoon! evokes a sense of home by @uwebertelmann
