The UW's Evans School of Public Policy & Governance is defined by our shared purpose: to inspire public service and to democratize public policy.

On what would have been his 101st birthday, we remember Daniel J. Evans. At the 1968 Republican National Convention, Dan gave the keynote address and had this to say about the importance of our civic engagement:
“…the most important ingredient of all: the powerful contribution of every individual citizen. The citizen who sees in the commitment of service our best hope for our nation. For it is in individual service that the hidden assets of America really lie. A community of citizens who will give their time, their talent, and their education to the advancement of our country and of its people. There are few, really, so young and there are none so old that their abilities cannot find a need or their interests an outlet.” by @uwevansschool

Our final in-person session on May 5th, 2026 will offer the opportunity to deepen student engagement by taking the themes/core concerns raised at the Winter Gathering, and brainstorming how to translate the feedback from World Cafe into tangible actions to steward change by creating connections to Mary Gates Leadership Fellowships, Campus Sustainability Fund, ASUW, and other student-led bodies or commissions on campus that amplify student voice. In the second half of the session, we will engage participants in a visioning session to help co-design Cx3 Programming for the next Academic Year (AY 2026-27).
RSVP now Open! Our Spring event will be held on May 5, 2026 from 4-7 PM in Parrington 320

Today’s Policy Camp was phenomenal! 🏛️⚖️📝

The University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Policy & Governance, in partnership with Highline College, the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, National Forum for Black Public Administrators–Seattle Chapter, and Seattle University hosted a conference to inform, inspire and empower students interested in public policy and service.

Students learned from experienced professionals and graduate students pursuing public policy and service careers in a panel discussion, took part in a policy hackathon to address real-world challenges, and connected with community partners and agencies at the resource fair.

Special thanks to the speakers, panelists, facilitators and the UW Evans School of Public Policy & Governance team for sharing your knowledge, experiences and resources with our students. We’re honored to be part of an event that encourages students and drives forward change in our communities. Large group of students sitting at table. taken in Highline College by @uwevansschool
