✈️ My first passenger flight, through my dad’s eyes. 💙💛

Two years ago, Alex Bonadonna chose the University of Windsor’s Commercial Aviation Leadership program, drawn to the opportunity to earn a degree and learn to fly right here in his hometown.

Since joining UWindsor, Alex completed his first solo flight in December 2025.

This fall, he reached another milestone: becoming a licensed private pilot.

There was just one thing left to do: take a passenger.
His first? His dad, a fellow UWindsor alumnus and current university employee.

Alumni Week brought Lancers together for an evening of football, familiar faces and plenty of school spirit as @uwlancerfb took on the York Lions, securing a 51–2 win! 🏈

And of course, a halftime show by @ultrasonikband 🎶

POV: your mom’s 2005 grad dress becomes your 2026 full-circle moment. 👗🎓💛

Twenty-one years ago, Nadine Manroe-Wakerell (BA, Hons ’05) crossed @uwindsor’s convocation stage as a young mother.

This spring, her daughter, Gabrielle (BSc ’26), followed in her footsteps and graduated as a Lancer, with her mom, Nadine, there to greet her as a member of the UWindsor Board of Governors.

But that wasn’t the only full-circle moment. Gabrielle was wearing the very same dress her mom wore to her graduation 21 years earlier. 🥹

Different generation. Same dress. Same Lancer pride.

Then. Now. Always a Lancer. 💙💛

🧡 Orange Shirt Day - Every Child Matters 🧡

Today, we gathered on the traditional territory of the Ojibwa, Odawa, and Potawatomi Peoples to remember the children who never returned home, honour residential school Survivors, and recognize the lasting impacts on families and communities.

On Turtle Island Walk, we started at The Big Turtle, a powerful artwork on campus by Teresa Altiman of Walpole Island First Nation.

Turtle Island is part of a creation story of North America and is a key part of Anishinaabe tradition.

Truth and reconciliation is an ongoing journey, one that calls on each of us to listen, learn, reflect and take action. 🧡 #OSD #orangeshirtday #truthandreconciliation
