Access to timely eye care matters. 👁️ The University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science supports Alberta’s expansion of optometrists’ scope of practice to include laser procedures and lid lesion removal.⁣
⁣
The expanded scope would help improve patients access to care, reduce wait times and allow optometrists to provide a broader range of office-based procedures across the province.⁣
⁣
“We are excited for our students, alumni and other optometrists in the province of Alberta to be able to practise to their full scope, providing safe care to Albertans,” says Dr. Ben Thompson, Director of the School of Optometry and Vision Science.⁣
