All-American on the field and in the classroom!

Congratulations to Senior Melissa Dietz of the @uwplattsoftball team who was named to 2026 College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American Second Team in June.

Dietz, who is majoring in health and human performance, is the fourth player in program history to earn Academic All-American honors, and the first since Rachel Plautz in 2022.

The Reedsburg native collected several awards following her standout senior season, including NFCA First Team All-American and WIAC Position Player of the Year. Dietz paced the WIAC in a multitude of offensive categories, including batting average (.532), home runs (9), slugging percentage (.910), and on-base percentage (.603). She also finished inside the top five in hits (59), doubles (13), and RBI (39).

After the 2026 season, Dietz currently holds the WIAC record for career batting average (.511) and her career 46 doubles is a program mark. The third baseman sits second in the Pioneers record books in career hits (166), RBI (108), and home runs (23) while holding the top two single-season batting averages in program history.

We have some new additions to the UW-Platteville Softball record book after our 2026 season!

The 2026 team set the record for batting average in a single season with a .333 average.

Mo Dietz broke her own record for single season batting average with a .532 average, and she hit a grand slam vs UW-Eau Claire. Mo is tied for third in single season home runs with nine, and has added her name once again to the record lists of single season hits, RBIs, and doubles, where she is already listed multiples times in each category.

Nora Buske added her name to the record board, being tied for second in games pitched in a single season with 29 and tied for third in single season saves with 3.

Congrats to senior Melissa Dietz on earning @nfcaorg All-America First Team honors!

It is the second straight NFCA All-America First Team selection for the third baseman and third career recognition after earning Third Team honors her freshman year. The three-time WIAC Position Player of the Year and NFCA First Team All-Region selection put together a fantastic season, leading the WIAC with a .532 batting average, .910 slugging percentage, .603 on-base percentage, 1.513 OPS and nine home runs, while ranking second with 59 hits, third with 39 RBI, and tied for third with 13 doubles. Her .532 batting average (59-for-111) is the top mark in a single season in conference archives.

Dietz played in and started 35 games for the Pioneers this season and recorded at least one hit in 30 contests, including 20 multi-hit games. Dietz connected on nine home runs, one being the go-ahead run against UW-Whitewater to advance to the WIAC Tournament Championship game for the second consecutive year. Dietz finished with 101 total bases on the season and scored 24 runs for the Pioneers while striking out just eight times and drawing 19 walks.

One of just two from the WIAC to be named an All-American this season, Dietz was joined by UW-Oshkosh’s Kiran Sanford who earned Third Team honors.

Looking back on last weekend…

Your Pioneers took second place in the WIAC tournament last Saturday and finished off the season 24-15. Back-to-back WIAC championship appearances.
Congratulations to @uwplattsoftball on advancing to its second consecutive WIAC Championship game!

The Pioneers defeated UW-Whitewater 8-7 on Saturday to advance to the conference tournament’s championship game, hosted at UW-Oshkosh.

The Pioneers battled to the end but ultimately fell 5-2 to UW-Stevens Point. Congratulations to the team on another fantastic season!
