What if Berserk were an arthouse film?

October 8 marks 29 years since the premiere of the original Berserk anime. To mark the anniversary, I imagined its world through fog, fire, vast empty landscapes, and the faces of people who already have something to lose.

One detail stayed with me: in the early 1990s, Kentaro Miura invited his friend, manga artist Kouji Mori, to discuss the Eclipse. The visit lasted almost a week. During that time, Berserk’s story took shape all the way to its final chapter. According to Mori, the story that followed remained almost unchanged from that original outline.

The ending already existed while, for readers, everything was just beginning.
