A full house. A story told without holding back.

Good Girl Gone Single, written, directed, and performed by Sherilynn Cherry, invited us into a bold, funny, and deeply personal journey through heartbreak, self-discovery, motherhood, dating, and the work of rebuilding after life has broken open.

Hosted at The Great Neck Pavilion, the evening created space for laughter, reflection, vulnerability, and connection.

Thank you to Sherilynn for trusting the room with this story, to everyone who showed up ready to witness the journey with us, and to The Great Neck Pavilion for welcoming us into the space.
Some stories stay with you long after the lights come up. by @vabeacharts

PETER DAVIS at 845 Virginia Beach Blvd Livesaving Headquarters

In the year 1990 Peter Davis moved to Botswana, Africa to teach art in a Community Junior Secondary School after finishing his BA in Psychology at Trinity University, San Antonio.  Afterwards he spent several months traveling though Africa and the Middle East. Upon his return to the states he earned a Masters in Fine Art from the University of California, Davis, afterwards taking a position as Director of Art for a non-profit that partnered with a public school in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, where he facilitated multiple community art projects in Brooklyn and surrounding areas. He returned to Texas to direct the “See-Wall Mural”, a 2.5 mile community art mural involving 14,000 people, the majority of which were children, and to work full time for the Galveston Island Beach Patrol. He has since collaborated with several community groups on projects and has shown his personal work in spaces in Texas, California, New Orleans, and Germany. He sees exposure to other cultures as a catalyst for both work and being and has traveled extensively in and out of the US.

Peter’s work is meant to be seen a visual puzzle where the viewer sees images through their own “lenses”. Much of it has a strong social or environmental message. While there is no one way to interpret the work, certain images are used repeatedly as road markers or metaphors for recurring themes. by @vabeacharts

The awards ceremony for Poetry in the Parklet took place during twilight under the trees lining 18th Street between Cypress and Mediterranean Avenue.
