I often get questions about how I got my start in the travel industry nearly 11 years ago and I’m always happy to share.. Quick heads up, though – the industry has changed a lot over the last decade and the travel world has a low barrier to entry allowing some less than experienced advisors into your feed, and that’s where things can get tricky.
When trusting someone with your hard earned money set aside for your vacation, grill them a bit! Ask about their personal experiences, if they’ve been to the destinations they’re planning for you, and what they really know about those places. Your travel planner should be a pro with local connections in destination and lots of training under their belt. It’s like choosing a hairstylist or financial advisor – you want someone skilled, experienced, and thoroughly vetted. Your cousin that is a Disney expert may not be the best fit to plan your European vacation.

Make sure you’re in good hands with someone you trust.

There are several new faces in my feed this January so I thought I’d take a quick moment to reintroduce myself! Hi! I’m Rachel, owner of Vacations Booked for the last 11 years. I’m a born and raised Nashville native.. yes we do still exist. I’ve been married 20 years and have two teenagers that add an extra layer of sweetness when they decide to be in a good mood.

My escape from reality is true crime podcast and prosecco. One of those things I indulge in more than most of you would deem socially acceptable.

I like Mondays, airports, anything with vinegar, and I like my sheets tucked in real real tight. I dislike small talk, winter, and pumpkin spice lattes. My favorite vacation meal is chilaquiles. IYKYK.

I’m an enneagram 7 wing 8 so naturally I love to have fun and always up for and adventure but not afraid to shoot you straight and speak truth to a situation.

One of my greatest passions is travel. I love exploring different destinations, immersing myself in new cultures, and discovering the hidden gems of the world. I find so much joy in sharing this passion with others and helping them ignite their own love for travel. My goal is to inspire and empower others to step out of their comfort zones and not go to the same vacation spot year after year.

A brother and sister keeping family traditions alive by getting all the cousins together in Mexico for their summer trip.

Hotel Xcaret is packed activities these teenagers will love: ziplining, water slides, underground rivers, cenotes, snorkeling, caves, amphibious vehicles, pools, music and nighttime shows.

It’s basically an adventure-filled Mexico trip where the teens will never be bored, while the adults still get plenty of time to relax.

A cruise embarking in Barcelona and disembarking in Venice means we also handle every detail of the pre- and post-cruise portions of your vacation. Fantastic start and finish to a multi generation vacation!

A family of six, adult kids and teenagers included, decided to soak up some real OG family vacation time while experiencing the magic of Italy at Christmas. One non-negotiable was adding in Amsterdam... because why not?

I love working with repeat clients! This family’s travel style is so similar to my own that whenever I plan a trip for them, it feels like I’m planning one for my family. In fact, I modeled this out-west itinerary after a trip we took to these same destinations a few years ago!

A river cruise through France, Germany, and Switzerland, and this trip keeps growing! Two more couples secured their rooms this week, bringing us up to 7 couples now. If you’ve been thinking about a river cruise, I can personally vouch for this group: it’s going to be a FUN one! Even if you don’t know anyone yet, they’ll be your besties by the end of the sailing. A father-daughter duo is heading out on an Adventures by Disney tour through London, ending in Paris. Dad’s a military veteran, and one of his dreams has always been to visit Normandy on the anniversary of D-Day. Back to school means back to routine. And I love it.

The house has a rhythm again. Lunches packed, schedules set, my brain has room to breathe. The summer heat hasn’t let up, but the fall calendars have arrived. Which means trip planning season is officially open.

I just booked a handful of trips for clients, and fall schedule clarity makes this my favorite time of year to do it.

It started with 3 couples: A river cruise idea tossed around over dinner. Then someone actually booked it.

Word got out. Now it’s 6 couples and growing, cruising the Rhine through France, Switzerland, and Germany together. Who’s next on board?

This is my favorite kind of trip to plan. One yes turns into a group nobody wants to miss.

Got friends who keep saying “we should do a trip together”? Stop saying it. Let’s book it.

There’s a window. Kids old enough to appreciate the trip, still young enough to want to take it with you.

One family of four, kids 17 and 14, just booked 2 weeks in Europe because they realized that window doesn’t stay open forever. You start counting the summers left together, and the number gets small fast.

So they pulled the trigger. Two full weeks, no rushing, just real time together.

This is the trip you don’t regret booking. If you’re staring down that same window, let’s talk.

Two sisters and Cousins who are as close as siblings. A family that never needs an excuse to travel together.

Next up: Europe, with Switzerland worked into the mix for May.

For this crew, every trip is a big occasion, and they never wait for a reason to plan the next one.

Sometimes the best trips start as work trips.

These clients had a work trip to Paris on the books. Then the thought hit: why fly home after just seeing a conference room? So we tacked on a week in Italy.

If you’re already crossing the ocean, make it count.

Graduation trip plan: London highlights in a day, catching The Greatest Showman musical while it’s finally open there, then a day trip out to the Cotswolds for a taste of the English countryside.
