It's official. I'm a Voting Member of the Recording Academy.

People have asked me for years: "Why haven't you joined?" Honestly, I wasn't ready. But this past year changed that. The Recording Academy showed me something I needed to see: what it looks like when an institution actually treats you like family before you're officially part of it.

Their kindness. Their genuine care. That's what made me take the leap.

So first, I want to thank the incredible folks at @Grammys for welcoming me in a way that made me want to be there. Y'all inspired this.

Like most, we all had dreams as kids of being at The Grammy Awards. Then we get in the game and all we see is the next mountain to climb. Makes me forget that I've been in this industry for over 25 years—from producing in Kentucky as a kid, to audio engineering in Hawaii, to building something amazing and unexpected here in Atlanta. Every city, every role, every struggle prepared me for this moment. It all led here.

And here is this: a place where my career has become about pouring into that kid in the Midwest I used to be—the one who knew his destiny was tied to creativity. It's about pushing culture forward and protecting future creatives as best as I can.

I thank God for keeping me through this journey. And to my tribe: y'all made this possible.

Now I'm here to use my voice to push our industry forward. To make sure the conversations we're having reflect all of us—every genre, every background, every perspective that's shaping what music becomes.

Music doesn't exist in a vacuum. It's built by so many different hands and hearts. I'm committed to making sure all those voices are heard.

Wow. What a crazy week.

I didn’t expect to be posting about “That’s Her” until 2027, but here we are. The love and support pouring in is real. This is so well deserved.

Love to the family @ninaserafinaaa @kountrywayne @doctalove12 @seanfamoso @slimwav and @pierrecharlesmusic

So appreciative to @huffingtonpost_ @thegrio and @theblkscript , and those I missed that’s championing us, and I mean US… thank you because our stories matter. We matter.

Wait until you hear the soundtrack though. WOOOOOOH! Magic was made. A true ode to The A.

Our first showing was at ABFF and yesterday we were shown to an amazing crowd at ESSENCE Festival of Culture. My guy @alterikmiller been telling me for months: “They love the music.”

Then it started happening everywhere.

People reaching out. Directors. Creators. Friends. Every conversation about “93’Til” somehow circles back to the soundtrack.

Then I got sent this video of @demetria4real giving the film its flowers. So appreciative of moments like this.

This work is invisible. Nobody’s obligated to mention the music supervisor or the soundtrack of a production, So when people keep bringing it up unprompted? That’s love I didn’t expect.

When I approached the music for “93’Til” it wasn’t meant to be loud. It’s a character moving through the world on its own timeline—first song whispers to the last. Easter eggs everywhere if you’re listening

When people walk away remembering the music? That’s the whole point. That’s the win.

And this is just the beginning. Two more projects dropping in the next 12 months. I’m excited. The team is incredible. Much love to Demetria, the entire “93’Til” family, and everyone who’s seeing the vision.

So... I have two films at ABFF!

I’m not gonna lie, the past 24 hours have been absolutely surreal. So much love pouring in through calls and messages, my heart is overfilled.

If you know me, know me, you know I don’t mind touting my genius a little. But this moment? All honor and glory belongs to God. He rolled this carpet out. He surrounded me with amazing people and that’s why this is even imaginable.

To go from never thinking about film festivals to having two projects here, competing in the same category… WOW!!! That’s grace. That’s a blessing!!!

I’ll break down the creativity and details another time. Right now, I just want to say thank you to the Most High and to my tribe.

Rooting for “That’s Her,” rooting for “93’Til,” rooting for every project at @americanblackfilmfestival . I’m really just honored to be in this space.

ATL, I can’t tell you how excited I am to be teaming up with @tunecore for the Music Publishing Workshop this September. We’re talking publishing, licensing, sync, and all the gems that can help artists move their careers forward.

This has been a long time coming, and I can’t explain how proud I am to finally share this moment with the world.

What makes it even more special is the leadership of @seanfamoso. Watching him guide @kids.against.cubicles into its very first feature film has been inspiring on every level. His vision, courage, and dedication brought The Odds to life in a way that feels bigger than just a film, it’s a milestone.

I’m grateful to have played a part on the music supervision side, but more than anything, I’m moved by the incredible team that poured their heart into this project. This is what collaboration at the highest level looks like.
