It’s one of my favourite places on earth, and I’ve known Vaimiti (renowned French Polynesian longboarder Vaimiti Teiefitu) for years but hadn’t seen her in a while. I was out there shooting and saw this surfer taking off down the line, not realising it was Vai until she was super close! I had the feeling maybe this photo was nice but it wasn’t until later when I saw it on the computer that I realised just how beautiful and cool it was!” Photo: Beatriz Ryder

Very intimate moment with Teahupoo today ✨

1,475 nautical miles, 12 sunsets and sunrises, 7 fishes, 8 ice-cream sandwiches, 3 scopolamine patches and 10 cribbage card games later… We found land again.
Sailing from Tahiti to Tonga was such a special experience… and probably the craziest thing I’ve ever done. Thank you captain @simon.nessman for making sure we made it out alive and shoutout to our lovely vessel Salal I for braving the winds and waves.
