We were just messing around after work and then this happened 😂 Didn’t expect it to turn out this wholesome, but okay 🥹 by @vaishnavi.pdf

Funny how something I was so excited to do ended up meaning a little more than I expected!

📍 Location: Petflix, Near 7D Cinema Hall, Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu

Holding a snake in Kodaikanal was definitely a bucket-list moment, but it also felt strangely fitting for the phase of life I’m in right now.

I never wear pink, like ever. But when I saw Lux from Queen of Vengeance in an outfit that looked way too much like one I had lying around… that was it, idea locked.

Queen of Vengeance by Jessica Jude is the second book in the Hand of Revenge series, but it stands perfectly on its own. Lux Colombia-Clarke is rich, sharp, terrifying, and carrying more grief than anyone should. When her brother’s life spirals into addiction, she sets her sights on the city’s most dangerous drug lord, determined to cut the supply at its root. What she doesn’t expect is Slate Lawson, a leather-clad biker with his own battles, to end up tangled in her mission. Their deal is uneasy, their goals are messy, and their chemistry is impossible to ignore.

This book delivers everything I want in enemies-to-lovers. The banter cuts, the tension never lets up, and the story balances chaos with real emotion. Lux and Slate are flawed and complicated, yet together they ignite in a way that feels both destructive and inevitable.

The fight against addiction and power sets the stage, but it’s the connection between Lux and Slate that keeps you hooked. It’s the kind of bond that builds slowly, then consumes everything in its path. Their story is messy, magnetic, and impossible to step away from. Before you know it you’re bargaining with yourself for just one more chapter until suddenly it’s almost morning. What makes it even better is that every chapter is named after a song, so the whole book feels like it comes with its own playlist built in.

Being a book reviewer has changed how I read. It helped me pick up non-fiction, something I avoided for years, and now I actually enjoy finishing a business book or a leadership guide and picking up ideas I can apply in real life. It also gave me the chance to give constructive feedback to new and growing writers, which is so rewarding when they take it on board.

Plus, receiving books with deadlines has helped me stay consistent with reading, no more “I’ll start tomorrow.” Every book opens a new door, and I can’t help but peek inside.

I’ve realized that exploring new genres has made reading so much more exciting.

Do you stick to one genre, or do you love discovering new types of books too?

I picked up this poetry book by @lekha.natarajan31 thinking I’d read a few poems before sleeping… and ended up sitting with my thoughts at midnight 🫣

The words hit me in the best way possible and it's been a while since I've read poetry with such depth.

If you enjoy poetry that really makes you pause and feel something, you’ve got to pick this one up. Navarasa: Soul Tides is available online, so add it to your reading list!!

Have you explored mythology books before?

Reading Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka was a very different experience for me. I’ve always heard Lord Hanuman’s stories through TV shows and childhood tales, but this Sundarakanda retelling made me slow down and really sit with his journey.

The book takes you through Lord Hanuman’s courage, devotion, and strength in a way that feels both simple and powerful. I loved discovering stories that I hadn’t come across before, like the tortoise who later helps Shri Ram cross a river. These little details made the reading feel fresh even though I thought I already knew Lord Hanuman’s tales.

What stood out most were the reflections and life lessons at the end of each chapter. They’re not heavy or preachy, but practical thoughts that made me pause and think about how Lord Hanuman’s qualities could apply in my own daily life.

The writing is straightforward and easy to connect with, which makes the book accessible to anyone curious about Indian mythology or spiritual books. The illustrations are a real bonus, adding life to the storytelling and making the journey even more engaging.

This book is not just about Lord Hanuman’s search for Sita Maa, it’s also about finding resilience, faith, and focus in your own life. For anyone interested in mythology, devotional stories, or spiritual growth, Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka is definitely worth reading. It reminded me why Lord Hanuman remains such an inspiring figure in our tradition.

Do we ever stop to think about the stories behind a doctor’s calm face?

Voices in the Waiting Room is one of those books that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into someone else’s quiet thoughts. It follows five doctors working in a US hospital, each carrying their own mix of loneliness, pressure and the simple need to belong somewhere. What stayed with me is how honestly the author captures that feeling of being far from home and still trying to hold yourself together while the world asks more of you every day.

The characters feel real in a way that makes you want to listen to them. Dr. Silva, Dr. Ankit, Dr. Pooja, Dr. Shashi and Dr. Jindal aren’t just names on a page. Their fears, disappointments and small moments of hope are written in such a way that shows how much is hidden behind hospital coats and professional calm. The book doesn’t shy away from the discomfort either. It brings up casteism, racism, the privilege of being heard first, and the exhaustion of navigating systems that don’t always see you as a person.

By the time you’re halfway through, you realise you’re not just reading about doctors, but about what it means to be human in a place that demands strength every minute.

Here’s what people forget about book reviews online. We don’t have 50k followers and that’s okay. What we do have is genuine love for books; the kind that makes us stay up late writing reviews, setting up a reel shot for the third time, or pouring our feelings into captions that barely fit the character limit.

Small creators like us keep bookstagram alive. We show up because stories move us, because sharing them connects us, and because community means more than numbers. We’re here for the books, for the readers, and for the little corner of honesty that still exists online. ❤️

What keeps you motivated to keep posting book reviews, even when numbers don’t show it?

What does being "present" mean to you?

Saturnrings is one of those books that makes you slow down without even realizing it. The more you read, the more you start noticing how much of life happens on autopilot. Through 108 Hindi-Urdu couplets translated into English, the author blends philosophy and poetry in a way that feels both old and familiar.

What I liked most is how simply it talks about something so complex. It doesn’t preach; it just nudges you to think about how consciously you’re really living. The title fits perfectly too. Saturn’s rings look beautiful from a distance, but they’re cold and distant and can be a reminder of how our lives can look put together on the outside while feeling disconnected within.

Some parts did feel dense, and it took me a while to sit with certain ideas. But once you do, the meaning unfolds beautifully. The photographs add another layer, almost like visual pauses between thoughts.

Reading this book would make you pause and really notice yourself. It begins to ask whether you are truly present or just going through the motions. It is the kind of book you come back to, because its words stay with you. Each couplet and photograph gives you a moment to stop, reflect, and connect with yourself and the world.
