still can’t believe that I debuted my first ever solo exhibition last week. I am really proud that I can tell my story about my culture and hopefully inspire a lot of Filipinos and people in different cultures to do the same.

This is a tribute to the friends that are always supporting and pushing us, our ancestors looking down and guiding us and family who are always there for us.

This is for you. This is for the culture. 🇵🇭

This wouldn’t have been possible without the help of amazing friends from @drinkalmighty, Mitch & Bonnie from @zangria.sippers, Tita Sybil @cateringbysybil, @valeriecvega for being an amazing sister and helping organise the whole event, @kieribanez for also jumping in and helping with event organisation, flower arrangements & your delicious adobo, Fergus for the awesome event venue @small_rave, Althea @altcks for the music, @deejeeehh for your help with the set-up.

For my family & beloved wife who have supported me throughout this whole journey, even when it was hard. And for dropping everything to come setup & pack down. I appreciate you so much. I love you so much! 🫶🫶

For my friends who travelled from different parts of the country to attend - Salamat kaayo. From the bottom of my heart. Thank you & love you all!

And to those who bought the art - I’m so excited knowing that a piece of my culture will be displayed proudly in your home.

For the past couple of months I’ve been playing with an idea, slowly crafting that idea into a series of artworks for an upcoming exhibition.

This is a big deal for me. I’m showing a side of myself that I don’t normally, even getting in front of the camera which doesn’t come naturally! But I’m so excited to share a big part of myself and my culture.

This exhibition brings together all the things I love. Food and art, brought to life through mixed media, photography & 3D. The process has been challenging at times, but the concept has been so vivid in my mind, that everything just clicked. And, I’ve got to use all the skills and tech I’ve been learning - Photogrammetry, Generative AI textures, and more…

I’ll release the exhibition dates and venue in the next few weeks. It will be in Auckland and I would love to have my community join me in celebrating my culture. There are a few other ways you can support me and my art, more details to come on that soon.

And as always, a huge thank you to the people who encourage me, even when things get hard…

the way back from a coffee with a friend, i was trying to b-line it to the station when this couple just stopped in the middle of everything and kissed.

everyone else kept moving around them, but for a second they didn’t seem to care.

i think part of getting back to making is learning to look again.

this is something i’ve probably walked past hundreds of times without really noticing. just a small part of the underground doing its job. but taken out of context, there’s something quite nice about it.

forcing myself to make something without worrying if it’s good enough to show.

i’ve been feeling pretty creatively down lately, and i keep finding myself just sitting in front of the tv instead of doing anything.

so this is me trying to get back to doing. no goal, no pressure, no need for it to become anything.
