A few snippets from my visit to the Osaka Aquarium yesterday. It was my third time here (the last visit was back in 2008 though) and I loved it possibly even more this time. Although I wanted to get a feel for the place again, the spider crabs were a key recall for me. These alien like creatures still terrify and fascinate me in equal measure …just like they did all those years ago 😂.

The aquarium is a key scene in my current ms , as do these crabs (which spoiler alert is actually not a horror piece loll, it’s a romance novel!)

I spent over half an hour writing by their tank, staying perched as the crowds moved and shifted around me. It was a gift to see them all again and to have this time in one of my favourite spots in one of my favourite cities.

If you happen to be here, I highly recommend it. If not, I hope you find a little bit of zen vicariously thru my collection.

Snapshots from the last few days-not exactly in order. The first two are from today (Monday). There is a tsunami here so much of my planned adventures for Tokyo have been curtailed but I did manage to get to a treatment at Lush in Shinjuku and also my sister-in-law's wedding yesterday (the reason I’ve come over). The wedding was amazing, partially very formal (with a sense of humour ) and lots of ladies dressed in proper kimonos (I was jealous and also chose not to photograph them out of respect). That was followed by a meal, speeches and then an after party of aggressive games (I may have lost my voice screaming with the others. It was the BEST). And I’m getting better at selfies too… that won’t be a habit but you know, I like keeping the hot mess in situ vibe going.

I’m off to Kyoto tomorrow and hopefully the weather will be better. For now, time to hunker down and get some writing done.

Went on another amazing walk with @creativerootsinnature this morning in honour of Imbolc. We walked around the reserve and through the woodland, drank tea, journaled, talked and hung out with the trees (I had a good hug with mine for not nearly long enough). Oh and a random pheasant walked by too 🥳.

Still recovering from my eye op, but managed to go for a short walk in the woods near Perth today. It was so atmospheric and peaceful, with the river storming past in the background below. Wish I’d been able to stop and perch there to do a bit of work… next time I’ll come armed with my proper camera and notebook. Till then this imperfect shot will do ☺️...

Met this lovely guy on his way home from a protest in the city centre. He was so proud to have been able to take his whippet with him, and she seemed pretty excited too (well she was all sass if I’m honest). ‘You wouldn’t believe how long it took me to find a whippet backpack!’

Up until that moment I literally had no idea there was such a thing, and my brain exploded with approximately 9000 questions I didn’t have time to ask him. Who knew something as simple as a carrier could spread so much happiness (to both human and doggie) 🥰.
