How lucky was I to be raised by a love like hers. I had the privilege of living with my perfect grandma and I don’t think I’ll ever find the words to truly describe how special she was to me. To know me is to know that our relationship was so much more than your traditional grandma-granddaughter bond. She was the foundation of my life and the constant in every version of who I’ve been. And now I am trying to understand how to exist in a world where that constant is gone.

Makayla and I were her world, and she was ours. No words will amount to the immense pain and grief losing her has left me with. To be chosen to be loved unconditionally by her for 19 years is the biggest blessing I was given in this life, and I will forever wish we had more time. She never let me forget how worthy I was when I couldn’t see it myself. She always knew what I needed when I didn’t even know myself. I never had to question how loved I was because she made sure I felt it every single day.

Mawmaw, I hope you know how much I loved being yours. Thank you for everything. Thank you for raising me, loving me, protecting me, teaching me, believing in me, and showing me what it means to love people wholeheartedly. The victory is yours. You are healed. You are whole. You are home. I’ll love and miss you forever. I’ll try my best to keep living the life you always wanted for me to the fullest, until we meet again. 🤍
