“And if travel is like love, it is, in the end, mostly because it’s a heightened state of awareness, in which we are mindful, receptive, undimmed by familiarity and ready to be transformed. That is why the best trips, like the best love affairs, never really end.”
- Pico Iyer by @valeriacatan

Yesterday’s magical visit to the Flower Market in Mexico City during Day of the Dead festivities, guided and surrounded by beautiful women whom I love, admire and call my friends was such a gift. My heart is so open and grateful. I had never made this visit, and it’s probably because it was meant to be yesterday.

This has always been one of my favorite Mexican holidays. It’s filled with so much beauty, and I’ve learned that true beauty is both ephemeral and eternal. This is what creates a feeling of wonder, awe and magic. It hurts as much as it opens our heart wide open to magic. It’s an invitation to surrender to the cycle of Life-Death-Life as the author Clarissa Pinkola Estés so beautifully describes in her book. Below is a quote I love from one of her books. May our tears nurture our creative power. May they stir our passion and compassion.

“Tears carry creative power. In mythos, the giving of tears causes immense creation and heartfelt reunion. In herbal folklore, tears are used as a binder, to secure elements, unite ideas, join souls…when one has ventured this far into relationship with the Life/Death/Life nature, the tear that is cried is the tear of passion and compassion mixed together, for oneself, and for the other.” by @valeriacatan

They say seeing is believing, but sometimes I feel that the most real things in life are the things we can’t see except with our hearts. It’s been a year and December to remember... I wish much joy and the happiest of holidays to everyone I love who is far away ♥️🎄✨ (Thankful to be these days with my beautiful sister @nataliacatan) by @valeriacatan

Discovering the inspiring art at Fundación Miró in Barcelona. I like this quote by him and I am happy to share with it you. “Painting must be fertile. It must give birth to a world.. ..it must fertilize the imagination.”
