CBA Undergraduate Student Leadership Board members will participate in monthly workshops and discussions surrounding choreographic praxis, scholarly approaches to dance, and pursuing dance as a profession. We are excited to feature the creative work happening in our CBA studio! Today we are featuring Tango dancer, choreographer, and professor Valeria Solomonoff (CBA ’17, @valeriasolomonoff)! Valeria founded and co-directed the first all-women tango company, Tango Mujer, from 1996 to 2006, and she currently directs the Valetango Company (@valetangocompany). In her dancing and choreography, she seeks ways to strip tango of its stereotypes while displaying its choreographic complexity. At CBA, Valeria explored how partnering in Argentinian tango can inform other dance forms. One of her current choreographic projects, “Brisa Fresca” explores levering and lightness as a “refreshing breeze (Brisa Fresca) and as an element of partnering.
